Have you been searching for an exhaustive review of the Mac Pro that compares it, inside and out, with the PowerMac G5? Search no more! Those wacky kids from AnandTech have gotten their hands on a brand new Mac Pro and put it through the paces. The 20 page review includes many pictures comparing the Mac Pro to the PowerMac and vice versa. The article mentions the poor RAM performance but doesn't mention that the MacPro RAM is ECC. All that error checking causes a performance penalty. G5 PowerMacs don't use ECC RAM.

The G5 does look a lot cooler with the side panel off than the MacPro. It also seem alot more full of stuff. My single 1.8gHz G5 has a giant empty space towards the front of it.

I'll take mine plain, please.
I just don't find the internals as interesting anymore without the G5 on the heat sinks.

Do you mean Anand? ...the guy many a PC junky worships?
I hope you were joking about that..

even though Anand did the piece, i'm sure Scott was just referring to Anandtech as a whole. i mean, they do have a STAFF, it's not just Anand doing everything:

Liquidmark: It's "PCs", not "PC's". Sorry to dump on you, but I've seen way too many superfluous apostrophes to let it go this time.
August 17 2006 at 8:34 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyPretty nice. Now, Let's see the Mac Pro stomp some Windows only PC's!
