2006 MacMod entries are in!

Oh, how I love the annual MacMod challenge. The entries for 2006 are in, and some of them are just great. Check out the Clockintosh, the iMac mini LCD (a mini with a LCD right in the top of the case, maybe my favorite mod this year) and the Tonka Mac. Voting ends on Tuesday, September 12. Here's hoping that your favorite does well.

The iMac Mini LCD isn't a working computer, but a portable DVD player put into a Mac Mini case. There's a RCA video input for the video coming from the iPod dock that sits on top. It's an interesting mod, but I dunno about a "winner."

What are you guys talking about? I've never heard a mosquito buzzing from an ad on TUAW. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Yes, please do lose the mosquito. It's like aural spam. And if you can't lose it, can you point loyal readers to some utility to silence it that doesn't require a global mute.

Some sort of mute in the preferences for the Flash plugin would be ideal!

As for the MacMod entries; what a pile of rubbish. The only one that is innovative and useful is the Hi-Def Powerbook entry. Is even easier to do on a Macbook Pro from what I've been reading, due to the size of the casings.

amen to that im glad to see readers actually commenting about this im sure there are a few who do not bother commenting but also find it annoying I would like to hear some sort official response to this DISGUSTING abuse of flash.

come forth my brethren, if you wish to banish the scourge of the mosquito please speak now if you are reading this and havent done so already then please voice your ANGER.

We can't be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression or persecution, but from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live, to exist, and should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice: 'We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

way OT, but, lose that annoying as hell 'mosquito' ad with its loud as hell buzzing noise, or lose a reader - for good.
