Rig of the Day: Holy iMac, Batman

Yesterday the Rig of the Day spent the holiday with his family, but he is back and ready to go. Today's rig stood out in the TUAW pool, as if it were in a spotlight of some kind. It is simply an iMac (with a keyboard and mouse tucked under the desk) with a little dramatic lighting thanks to $50 and a trip to Ikea.

I love TUAW! Not only do they give us awesome little stories, apps and home projects, but they correct their errors unlike other sites!

Sorry, you are incorrect. Home Theater enthusiasts have been backlighting displays for years...I have a 56k flourescent white behind my HDTV. It actually allows you to turn DOWN the brightness setting, not the other way around. Also, since HD displays use a color temperature of 56k, it really makes it really pop.

Greatest idea ever. ;)

I've been doing the same thing for a while. I find that when there's a light behind the display, it's a lot easier on the eyes. I recommend everyone should do the same.

The dumbest idea ever.

It's just going to make the screen seem dimmer - so you end up boosting the brightness setting, thus burning the screen out quicker.

Cool! That's my mouse. That is the best mouse ever. Do you use the keyboard, stolidsoul? I don't, gotta love that apple keyboard simplicity. I would prabably buy that new "MX Revolution" logitec mouse if it had a charging station like that mouse does.
