AMD CEO: AMD + Apple inevitable

During an Intel-bashing session at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, The CEO of AMD, Hector Ruiz, whined remarked that an AMD + Apple partnership is in their cards: "Knowing Apple, why would they want to be held hostage like everyone else has been?" Of course, Apple wasn't available to comment on whether Mac users could have AMD inside anytime soon.

While I try to manage my shackled ankles that this iMac imposes, I'll let you check out the full rundown of what Ruiz had to say at Bloomberg.

Have you all forgot that Intel is working with 65nm and AMD with 90nm? So, when you compare an AMD FX-62 with an CORE 2 Duo the results may have a big distance. Im waiting to compare something more realistic like the long awaited 65nm AMD versus a Core 2 DUO, that will be a real match. So.... more performance per watt? Think again... maybe 65nm mean something? And finally, DONT THINK im the blinded AMD fanboy. Is true that I love AMD, but I must say that Intel did an incredible work with core 2 duo and if apple choose to use Intel processors and not AMD, it was for a good reason. See ya

"Turion mac books would own core solo mac books, because K8 is just so damn resource efficient and low on heat."

No, it'd own them because there is no Core Solo MacBook. It ain't hard to beat something that doesn't exist. :)

I hate that damn picture, Mephistophelian. Do you have any idea just how ignorant and stupid it is?

On the other hand, maybe he's talking about Apple using ATI graphic cards instead of AMD chips.

I still can't believe we are talking about Intel and AMD chips in a mac site! :-)

You're quite obviously a fanboy. If you look at performance benchmarks, across the board, the Core series of processors wipe the floor with AMD's latest desktop chips, and especially the notebook chips, in both speed and performance per watt.

So Hector would like to sell chips to Apple. That's good news, just in case of. You never know what's lurking down the road.

10. "Turion mac books would own core solo mac books, because K8 is just so damn resource efficient and low on heat."

There is no Core Solo MacBook

"lack of AMD based computers is the only reason I'm holding off on buying a mac."

And stop being such a fanboi.

12. "AMD always seemed like the processor for the plebs"

You've spend the last 5 years under a rock? :)

13. "Does anyone know if AMD makes pin compatible chips with the wodcrest or core duo"

They don't.

Excuse my ignorance for in the great CPU debate, especially when it comes to the PC processor debate..

AMD always seemed like the processor for the plebs - I thought intel was king in peecee land hands down? I didnt like the sound of intel and mac but have grown to accept it.. but an AMD processor in my mac just gives me visions of 2 mice (dual core!) in a running wheel powering the brains of my mac..
