Speaking of Microsoft - Office 2004 for Mac updated to 11.3.0

Scott just mentioned Microsoft's Remote Desktop to me in chat and all of a sudden the entire Office: mac team rushed to push a mostly unrelated update out the door!

From the Read Me: "This update contains several updates to enhance security and stability, including fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code. In addition, this update includes all of the improvements released in all previous Office 2004 updates."

More specifically?
  • Hyphenation is applied correctly to Swiss German content (all)
  • Properties are retained in large documents (Word)
  • Font does not change to Times New Roman after using a non-breaking space (Word)
  • Hyperlinks and Action Settings are retained (PPT)
No Entourage or Excel improvements noted and I haven't installed it yet so I can't say if their version numbers are even changed (an ongoing Office annoyance). If/when you install it, please let us know how it works for you!

I installed the update on osx 10.3.9 now the user profile i installed from is corrupted. The screen is all white text on a black background. Other user profiles are unaffected. Anyone know how to fix this?

No Excel updates? It's the one MS App I use the most and it's incredibly buggy for power user activities like pivot tables and special formatting. I hate to say it, but I'd rather work on the Windows version. MS seriously needs to pay some attention here. I also hate to pay for a new version just to get something that hopefully will work better. And by better I mean simply crash less often.

Well if the update finally enables to Word to remember to default to A4 paper size, rather than keep resetting to US Letter I'll be happy.

Update installs fine on my 20" G5 iMac, however on my G4 after download I get a "can't find anything to update) message. WTH.

Yes, UB is coming with Office 2007, which is due 2nd half of 2007 - late as usual. Might as well call it "Office 200When We Get To It". Perhaps an Adobe-Microsoft UB pool is in order?
