But... only if you took advantage of yesterday's macZOT offer! I see as of this morning Disco is still available for $14.95, so maybe the freebie is still valid. Apparently when you register, the surprize (sic) is revealed: another license to give away to a friend. That's a brilliant way to spread the love. If I buy a copy today, I'll update this post if the freebie is still available. Considering Disco's fantastic UI, cool tricks, and excellent implementation, what's going to happen to venerable (and for a while, pretty much standard) Toast? If they don't at least drop the price I'm not sure what advantages it would offer. I'd like to see El Gato build some support for Disco too, boy that'd be cool. Thanks, Timmay.

I'll definitely buy today if the freebie is still in place. If not, I'll do the usual - bide my time.
Toast is overfeatured and overpriced. Disco looks like the right app at the right price.

I'm cheap, anybody wanna throw a key my way? I'll probably end up buying this once it's out off beta. So far I like what I'm seeing out of this program. And I'm serious, if any one wants to throw one of those keys my way, I will greatly thank you, And may even return the favor one day.

The icon looks nice like that but it looks pretty crappy on the dock, it's tiny compared to all the other icons.

The Disco window will smoke while a disc is being burned. It only works on a (i think) Quartz Extreme-enabled GPU, so the MacBook is out.

The smoke didn't work on my G5 PowerMac. Even when I turned it on and configured it. I'm not sure why...

The smoke is eye-candy. The application "smokes" as it is burning a CD/DVD. Blow into the mic or wave the cursor around to affect the smoke. The Disco website has many demo movies to see the affects and UI. Also, while Disco is $14.95 during BETA it will go up to $24.95 once released.

If only Disco supported Video_TS compression to fit a larger DVD file onto a standard single-layer DVD-R. :(

What's the point? Yes, I understand that UI is a very important part of design, but when the most talked-about feature doesn't work with most computers, what's so great about this program that Burn doesn't do? It's stupid, really, and there's way too much hype over basically Burn with a pretty (and it seems most of the time, non-functioning) UI.

@William Brawley: Roxio's "Popcorn 2" will do this for you now...if you need this badly it might be worth looking into. since Disco is not even out of beta, who knows...a future feature?
i bought Disco in part because of what may come in the future, and to support a neat and ambitious project. the free extra license was perfect, as coincidentally i had a friend who needed a little more than the built-in burning features.
and now back to your normally scheduled grumbling about user interface and lack of this-or-that feature...

Hmm... does not animate when I burn.... I am on a 2x2.66 Ghz Dual Core Intel Xeon. No go.... Anyone with a Dual-Core Get the burn animation. Not this is a deal killer-just wondering what it looks like.

So althought it's BETA do you get the full version for free when released if you pay the $14.95?

I actually like how toast will let you burn an AVI as disc playable in a regular DVD Player. If Disco did this, I would be in.
