iPod shuffles coming to a store near you on Friday

We know that iPod shuffles are shipping directly from the factories in China, but Apple made it official. You should be able to find iPod shuffles in Apple Stores and Apple authorized resellers this Friday, November 3rd. $79 gets you this little 1 gig wonder, which also has its own special dock since it is darned small.
Now, even if you aren't in the market for a shuffle let's take a moment to gaze at the amount of info Apple managed to cram on the bottom of the shuffle. Those elves in Cupertino really know a thing or two about design, huh?

You're right, MacCrazy, it is the bottom! I've updated the post. Thanks.

They are pretty hot, I'm not in the market for a shuffle but am tempted to buy one just because of the...ergonomic beauty of it.

does anyone know how it syncs?..they have the dock but it looks like the only thing connecting the shuffle to the dock is the 3.5mm hole

but no usb port / no memorystick functionality. that's a step backward for me and the reason I won't buy one.

I may have to get one just because...
At what point does a fashion statement become so small that it can't be seen and thus stops being a fashion statement?!

MacCrazy:
yes, that's the bottom
Reyner:
from my understanding, the battery indicator will be the power LED - it will turn orange when the battery gets to a certain percentage (common sense tells me 20%)

I had a 1st gen shuffle (512MB) and use it daily as a memorystick, apart from listening to music.
I guess I'll have to get another 1st gen 1GB.

Received mine this morning - sitting there waiting for me to get into work - complete with engraving - initial thought was wow it is so dinky. It works as a normal shuffle (music and as external storage device -if you so desire) the connection is made in the dock with a 3.5mm jack (wondered why it seemed a little slower to transfer my music across - just a tad mind).
First impressions after setting it all up (took minutes as already ran the iTunes update - it sounds as gorgeous as it looks. The only slight downer is that it doesn't come with the new style earbuds!
But get one you know you want to. Highly recommended.

It syncs by having a little usb to shuffle dongle thing that goes through the 3.5mm hole. So yes, you can't really listen to it while it is charging/syncing as far as I can tell. (Tho you would have a computer with itunes i'd imagine to fix that :)
I preordered mine over a month ago, and the expected delivery date for mine is Nov. 2. Hopefully all is well.
