Unpacking a refurb MacBook
Apple Certified Refurbs are a great deal, this we know. However, what do they look like when you order one? That's the question Macsupport.ca has just answered with their unpacking pictures of a refurb MacBook. As you can see you don't get the fancy box, or the nicely shaped Styrofoam, but you do save lots of money.Plus, you won't be tempted to save the box it comes in and take up room in your house, and that has to count for something.

Its like mature unboxxing pr0n. However, I usually prefrer the fresh unboxxing pr0n. So much, I've been tempted to make some of my own.

I'm assuming you meant "refurb" which is an abbreviation for "refurbished", not "reburf" which isn't a word.

hehe "reburf" .. "rebarf" .. :)
still, nice to see a different unpacking pr0n than the "boring" new items...

I don't know, I quite like the sound of a reburfed MacBook. You could have a whole reburfing ceremony, with candles and stuff.

"Pedantic idiot". Recognise those words David? How about "puerile whining" - mean anything to you?
F*** off to another blog, I'm sick to death of reading your kind of adolescent crap.

Hey, I actually liked the box that the brand new Macbook came in. I have kept it. Great place to keep the Macbook accessories I dont use (extension cord, remote), instruction manuals and software disks.

Hi Steve, the only thing needed is a break from incessant smart arses who's only contribution is a pious and condescending correction of typos. Its not clever, funny, helpful or constructive.
Like many others I am an avid reader of this blog and have been for a long time, and that's a lot of comments to get through. Recently (last 6 months or so) there seems to have been a sharp increase in the amount of intellectual masturbation of the type that "David Maher" has displayed, and I'm no longer prepared to just skip over it.

I've ordered 2 refurbs off the Apple site, one being an eMac about 3 years ago and the other being a Dual G5 Tower about a year and a half ago, both had original packaging, must be a recent change?

I ordered a refurbished MacBook for my daughter, and it arrives in a few days. She won't mind that it doesn't come in a pretty box. Besides, I saved $200, and I was able to score a 1GB stick of RAM at Best Buy.

I bought a MacBook Pro four weeks ago now and it came in this same packaging. It was worth the money I saved, though my remote wasn't working when it arrived. Apple sent me a new one that only took one day to get here (from Cali to the Canadian prairies, one day was impressive. If only that's how long the notebooks shipping time was). I was so happy with the cost/product I received, I didn't even blink when the new Duo 2s came out, even though I had been waiting for them. My only regret was not ordering sooner.

I own a refurb G5 iMac. I still saved the box, and it's been handy as hell as I moved from Michigan to Georgia and I opted to fly and ship my belongings down instead. The iMac made it perfectly safe.

My sister bought a refurbbed MacBook from a brick-and-mortar Apple Store. It came in an original box, but the install discs were missing.
Any of you think that if she called, she could get those discs? I was surprised when we unpacked the box that there were no discs at all in there...

Nonsense. Reburf is the ghetto mod to Rebirth.

Oh, how I wish the box said "Certified Reconditioned _Apple_ Product"--better initials. :-)

My brother got a iMac from the UK refurb store a week ago and it came in the original packing with all accessories and discs. the power cable was the european one and not the UK one, he phoned up and they sent him a new one. So i'd suggest you call apple and i'm sure they'll send you out the discs.

I got my MacBook Pro this way, and I have to say I was disappointed with the packaging. I was expecting the fancy retail boxes =[ ...The computer was good as new, though.
