Adium 1.0 beta screenshots

I spend a lot of time in chat (I'm very popular) and sadly all of my friends and colleagues refuse to use the same IM protocol. That's why I eschew iChat and use Adium instead. One of the developers behind Adium gives us a peek at how the beta 1.0 release is shaping up. Before you ask, Adium 1.0 won't support voice/video chat which is just fine with me.

This release looks very promising

I have no problems with file transfers via ICQ nor MSN. Have used the beta since this summer.

I already like Adium, but has someone said, please give us faster transfer rates! It's ridiculous that I can only send at 6 Kb per second!

Maybe it's just my long-time Windows/Trillian experience, but I loathe that there's no nesting of groups in Adium.

I use it for both work and personal contacts and my contact list gets pretty huge.

I adore Adium, and have it running in the background most of the time I am online, as my friends are spread around multiple services. I have it stripped down to be clean and basic, and really love it to be such. Until iChat starts having native support for cross-service, I'm simply not going to use it.

I hardly ever use video/audio, so when I want to, activating Skype isn't too much of an issue.

I will agree with those that have spotty file transfer issues with Adium, that really is my one problem. Otherwise, I consider it the superior chat client for Mac.

Nice! I still prefer iChat for my AIM usage but, like you, not everyone wants to play on the same service. So I use Adium for my other IM names. I'm looking forward to seeing this.

If only there was a way to get iChat to allow msn accounts...

What is wrong with the file transfer for Adium?

I just like the info/look Adium gives you when you hover over a screen name on the buddy list. Gives online time, buddy icon, idle time, the whole nine. If iChat had all these, I'd gladly use iChat. Hopefully iChat in Leopard has a nice interface.
