Griffin ExpressCard 5-in-1 reader out

There are others like it, but this one is from one of our favorite vendors: Griffin has released an ExpressCard/34 reader for SD, Memory Stick/MSP, MultiMediaCard, xD, and also (assuming you haven't lost your card adapter) Memory Stick Duo/Micro, miniSD, microSD, and the other MMC flavors. Naturally tangy and faster than your average USB bear; pick one up for your favorite MacBook Pro-toting photographer. $30 direct from the big G.

I'm considering a MacBook Pro and something I would buy immediately is an ExpressCard media reader. I just wish someone would make one that has either grey/silver slots, rather than the obligatory black. It's a shame something as sleek as the MBP would be sullied by the 'black hole' on the side.

I'd also like a bezel that fills the gaps between the device and the slot in which it sits. Every one I have seen thusfar (and I see no reason to believe the Griffin is any different) leaves a gap around the device, onto which dust could enter the computer.

I gotta third the compact flash. It'd be great to be able to just stick the card straight in with those high speeds instead of lugging around a slower dongle...

I agree, Compact Flash is an important format. I understand why they didn't include it (it wouldn't fit in a sleek enclosure) but im sure there are other cards out there that support CF. It's a pity though because I like Griffin's products.

I'm still in shock over the loss of a real PCMCIA cardslot on the MBPro! CompactFlash is by no means dead, and is still the flash card of choice among dSLR users. The skiinycard slot is useless to us. Waste of space. Now we'll have to dangle a dongle like iBook/MacBook users. After paying a premier for the privilege.

This move was smart like leaving the FW800 off the first MBPro 15".

OK, Michel, LOL... I would guess that your ExpressCard adapter will be assembled for you in person by Donald Trump, in a thong.

If you like, I'll be happy to pick one up for you in the US and send it to you. I'll even bring it to you myself; I'll discount Griffin's shipping cost by 97% and only charge you $24,000. That should get me to France and back.

:-)

ok fine product, very fine

but well, when I do the buy stuff and calculate cost of shipping, I indicate the country (France) and the postal code, and it gives me $29 for the card and $800,000 of shipping !

Subtotal: $29
Shipping: $800,000.00
Discount: $0.0
Total: $800,029.99
:)

I want a discount !

okay, now I know, these people use special kind of flying horse to ship or freaking cool own-brand planes to send it in a mere 12 seconds or maybe I'm now living in the moon.

$800 000... the cost of shipping by teleporter..
