The other day, I posted about a Zune video riff on "I'm a Mac", fully convinced that it was a fanboy production. After all, you can't "squirt" video from one Zune to another (at least without resorting to the "rename-it-as-a-jpeg" hack) and it takes more than a single button hit to send data, and so forth. Lots of inaccuracies.
So I was surprised to find out on the semi-official Zune Insider blog that the spoof video actually came from Microsoft itself. The video was first screened at an internal Microsoft meeting, and had the Microsoft people "rolling". Like the "Microsoft designs the iPod package" video, it was meant for an internal Microsoft audience, but someone leaked it to Youtube.

Another example of Redmond copying Apple's ideas and coming up short.

Right........ someone "leaked" it. Microsoft, I'd hate to admit, was smart about this one. They show it internally, and one of its employees "leak" the video out on Youtube. All the while, tech news blogs "somehow" find the "leaked" video on Youtube.
Tons and TONS of free promotional advertising for the big bad MS. That and because the video was "leaked," there can't possible be any complaint from Apple for improper parody yada yada.

I can actually imagine the Microsoft employees going nuts over this!
It typifies their attitude: they "know" they're better than Apple and must have been seething over the PC vs Mac ads that typified the typical 'softie so well (the C# book for Christmas one is right on the money).
Finally they get their revenge!
The problem is, you have to be virtually married to Microsoft to go nuts over the dog's breakfast of a Zune.

The iPod guy is a professional stage actor here in Seattle. He uses an iBook. Just thought I'd share.
