Knit Yourself an iPod Sock
Macworld.uk has a sweet little article laying out directions for knitting your own iPod sock. If you have some yarn and needles, you can save yourself £19 and roll your own. The pattern involves nothing more than 30 cast-on stitches in a knit-perl[1]-knit-purl pattern, switching colors after 8 rows to a second color for 34 rows. Even a knitting moron like myself could probably finish this project. If you give it a try, let us know how it turned out for you.
[1]Computer humor. Hah!

I wonder if any computer-controlled/programmable knitting machines exist. (I know they have computer-controlled sewing machines). Now, if said machines could be scripted through use of the Perl language...

The article is from Macworld UK Friday, 19 November 2004. My wife knitted me iPod socks while I away at MWSF '05. Surprise! I bought her iPod Socks while I was there. O. Henry!

I didn't do one off of this article, but I've made many for myself and my iPod toting friends. I do the casting on by sight (much more effecient, considering the variety of yarn weights out there). I generally added a pocket for headphones as well. A little tip: If you don't cast off, you can thread yarn through the loops to create a drawstring.

Have you travelled back in time for your last few posts?
Time for a new contributor, methinks. Sheesh!

"Travelled back in time"? Are you kidding? Do you think knitting is for old grannies? Knitting is hip and cool and lots of PEOPLE (men and women) do it. Maybe it's closed minded people like you who keep us knitters in the closet! Knitting can be very technical, and us techies like it.
