Bahahaha -- I LOVE the one under google maps where they look up the Starbucks and call them and just hang up. I almost expected a Bart Simpson, but that was great nontheless. Classic!
Cheers,

P.S. I'm SO getting one of these phones!

If it runs OSX, I'm assuming the widgets will be identical to what's in the current Dashboard, and that developing new widgets will be the same process.
Cheers,

Can it be unlocked to work on another carrier such as t-mobile? I am locked into a 2 year agreement with them and have a long time to go. I would imagine others are in the same predicament....but an unlocked ability would be great. anyone know?

Has anyone else noticed that there are no pictures of the BACK of the phone?

But... what of the FCC disclaimer at the bottom of the page? Exactly how much did they rush to get this announced? It's probably just a routine thing but still.... Jobs' running a slave ship I guess!

I think what will be the coolest is, since you have internet via Safari, you should be able to listen to internet radio.....

I think it should be possible to unlock this phone for use with another GSM carrier such as T-Mobile. I think a recent regulatory ruling stated that consumers are within their rights to ask for firmware unlocks to make their handset accept any GSM SIM cards.
But what caught my eye is the fact that this phone only supports GPRS / EDGE and not Cingular / ATT's newer 3G UMTS network (see http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=cingular+3g&submit=Go).
So that means that for the best data speeds, you need to be near a wi-fi hotspot and you can't have truely mobile wireless broadband / 3G services like what you see with EV-DO based CDMA networks like Verizon.
I'm as stoked about the final debut of the Apple phone as anyone. It almost makes me wish I didn't get my new 5G iPod a few months ago. But for the price and lack of true mobile 3G support, I think I'll wait.

Virtual keyboards are lame. (Proof: No one uses them on desktop or laptop systems. Although I'm sure there'll be one doofus who says "I do!" as if one counter-example invalidates the point.) I love my Sidekick 3's keyboard and can't imagine actually trying to use a touchpad with all its compromises. Don't get me wrong; this phone has a ton of great features. But give me a good slider keyboard and I'll maybe think about switching.
A couple of people asked about installing software. I'd expect you're going to have to pay through the iTunes store. I can't see Apple and/or Cingular just letting anyone install anything they want here.

Jake:
Can't remember wher I read it, but I think the 3G support will come in the form of a new model down the road. By the time that happens, you'll probably be ready to buy again.

In the keynote Jobs said that they waited to get FCC approval because the FCC would've let the cat out of the bag before the big reveal. I think that might be the ol' Jobs RDF talking, but that's just me. It kinda makes sense that the FCC are the only folks Apple can't silence with a harsh non-disclosure agreement, though.

What version of OS X does this require? 10.4.9, 10.5? What about Windows compatibility? How does it work with calander etc?
Just a thought...

@10,
Actually, this is not just RDF-talk, it is the truth. Like the Patent Office, FCC filings become public record; so when Apple filed for FCC approval for their iPhone, everyone would know about it.
