URL for the Keynote, to be posted later today

The Stevennote finished a little over an hour ago, and Apple already has a placeholder up for the streaming video. Head on over to the iPhone section of Apple's website to see the placeholder. We'll let you know when the video goes live.

There is no way I am aware of to save these streams directly from the QuickTime player. What I do is use my two-Mac setup to do this. I have a Mac mini which I play the keynote stream on. It is hooked up to my MacBook Pro through an EyeTV box and the DVI to S-Video adapter. So essentially I am converting the output of the mini into a TV signal (sorta), and recording that with the EyeTV. You do lose quality but at least you can save a copy of it. Good idea to do these, as Apple has a habit of sometimes yanking older keynote/special event videos off their site at random times and without notice.

Yes, the stream is up, but their servers are overwhelmed at the moment. And yes, it is a stream; Apple has not figured out how to magically cram an hour of video into 9k. If they had, that would be bigger news than the iPhone.

AFAIK, there's isn't any way to save a QT stream as a self-contained MOV, whether you have QTpro or not. Anybody care to prove me wrong?

@mizar
I noticed that too. I'm guessing that there were multiple copies of the pic with different times ready to be uploaded.

@Nick
I have QTP, and it's on;y showing 9k for the self contained movie.

This might be able to help you, Hesse. It should be a very similar process...but it is still hundreds of times easier if you have QT Pro.

The iPhone image on the placeholder page shows the exact date and time (9:41, Tuesday, January 9) that His Steveness began his introduction of it.

Look at the nice warning at the bottom: "This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained." I know they need FCC approval - they must have waited on this so it wouldn't be leaked ahead of time.
