MailTags 2 beta gets major todo and event enhancements, goes 'feature complete'

Scott Morrison has released a 6th beta of MailTags 2, his quintessential tagging and organizing plug-in for Mail.app that we're big fans of. This new beta heralds a 'feature complete' status for the plug-in, meaning that Scott has implemented all the new features and tricks that version 2 will have, and now it's simply time to clean up the code and stomp out the bugs. Also new in this version is an updated UI with a slick new pop-up window for entering todo and event information (pictured). This makes recording events and staying on top of things with MailTags much more functional and enjoyable, causing Scott's plug-in to rise even farther towards the top of my list of apps that help me get more done with my email.

MailTags 2 costs $25 and can be had from indev.

Yea, I often have a problem with the way they link to things on this site.

Often a link you expect to go to the site they're talking about will go to the same post you're on. Or a lot of the time there isn't an obvious link to the site/subject the post is talking about, & I'm scouring around for one.
Anyway thanks for fixing it this time :)

Yep. I noticed. That is great.

It is not that the content is not relevant. It is. Just that the link was misleading. But we agree. Enough is said.

The reason many sites, not just blogs, link like this is to build a reputation as a site that stays on top of the topics it covers. It isn't intended to be a deceptive move, it's to link to previous coverage which can offer context on an ongoing topic.

That said, you're right - I didn't use the right vocabulary for the link. I have since edited the post. Hope it reads a little better now.

Jakob Nielsen:

Blogs are often too internally focused and ignore key usability issues, making it hard for new readers to understand the site and trust the author.

I second Andreas comment - it's standard web etiquette and puts a questionable eye on future posts for your readers.

I do not like the way you link to stuff. Why is the link "MailTags 2" in the top of the post going to your category "MailTags"? Obviously that link should go to the MailTags site and you could put the category link in the bottom of the post under "Related entries" or something like that. Are you just trying to generate site views?

BTW: This is design mistake no. 4 if you ask Jakob Nielsen:

4. Links Don't Say Where They Go

You can do better, David!
