Microsoft: The WOW starts... with a MacBook?

Microsoft's "The WOW Starts Now!" Vista promotion campaign has taken just about every computer and technology venue by storm. Everyone from the likes of Best Buy to Bob's Computers has at least some kind of hanging banner, floor signage or postcard handouts featuring the mind-numbing array of Vista flavors, but we're curious as to who actually designed all this promo material. Filippo Corti at the Mac Blog (crummy Google translation to English here) snapped this pic which features what must be a MacBook alongside four of the major versions of Vista. Considering that Vista's EULA forbids virtualizing any versions besides Business and Ultimate, this either amounts to a grossly mis-leading advertisement or a fox sly, pro-Apple designer among sheep.

[Update: Right on cue, some debate as to whether this is actually a MacBook or even a piece of Apple hardware at all has ensued. Some eagle-eyed readers have pointed out that the side ports actually say iBook, and we tend to agree. Still, this looks like a piece of iconic Apple hardware, and Microsoft could have made a more distinctive choice.]

#31... the Vaio has like 1 or 2 ports along its left side... The one in the photo has at least 6. You lose.

I've been looking for a TV solution for my MacBook recently. I didn't want eyeTV, too expensive for the moment. Now I found a product with a nice and shiny macbook on the cover. I was happy to see this and looked for the specs (actually, I wanted to see if the software worked on Intel based Macs), but there was only Windows mentioned. Bummer :-/

I wish people would stop posting that Virtualization is forbidden. They only forbid you from installing your copy of Vista Home twice. Once on your computer, and again inside a virtual machine on your computer. (The same as all current versions of XP, just spelled out)

Business and Ultimate allow you to install the same license key of Vista inside a virtual machine on itself. The only reason for the new wording for Home is to call out the difference from Ultimate.

And as the update on the main page says:

"Still, this looks like a piece of iconic Apple hardware, and Microsoft could have made a more distinctive choice."

As much as i would like to slam Microsoft for this, I do have to say it is the error of Micro Center's shitty Marketing team who made this, I do not believe this is official Microsoft Marketing campaign.
