Widget Watch: Microsoft Dashboard Widget?

"Dashboard widgets by Microsoft, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria" --P. Venkman, Ghostbusters

Behold what appears to be a Microsoft Live Search Dashboard widget, as spotted by TUAW reader Florian on Nik Fletcher's blog. TUAW decided to check this out. We downloaded a copy of the widget from the Apple website, opened it up and looked inside.

And to us, at least, it looks like this is not actually produced by Microsoft. Our best guess? A French Mac user put this thing together. The code is littered with comments in French, debug statements, and third party subroutines. There's nothing in there that indicates this was an actual Microsoft product. So how is it as a widget? It's fine if LiveSearch is your thing.

That doesn't really mean "a French Mac user put this thing together".

Is there actually anything like this for Google? This is far better than the ones I've seen...

I'll second that. The thought of using Live Search makes me throw up slightly in my mouth.

That's more or less how I've always imagined Microsoft code.
