TUAW Desktop of the Week

This week's Desktop of the Week may include a little Windows paraphernalia action, but don't let that distract you from some of the mod action that Flickr user dannyuncensored has going for his brand new black MacBook. First up is the wallpaper he's using - it appeared in a February rumor we ran of a possible Black iMac. The actual image was linked by TUAW reader Smitty, and is part of a wallpaper pack at - where else - deviantART. Here are the rest of the resources dannyuncensored is using in a handy list format:
- ShapeShifter theme: TenFive from InterfaceLIFT
- Byte Controller (free) for iTunes in the menubar
- MacBook icon from InterfaceLIFT
- Windows Vista icon for the Boot Camp partition created by dannyuncensored's friend (perhaps they would be willing to share it?)
- Statistics in the middle of desktop are, again, provided by Panic's popular Stattoo
- The clear Dock is provided by Unsanity's free ClearDock
If you'd like to see your unique, functional or otherwise interesting desktop featured in our TUAW Desktops of the Week series, check out past featured desktops as well as the original post for the rules and to get an idea of what we're looking for. Then, upload your desktop screenshot to our TUAW Desktops Flickr group. We'll feature one or more desktops each weekend, giving credit to the desktop owner, wallpaper creator and any apps featured in the screenshot (if available). Keep those desktops rolling in!

I've made two similar icons for Windows. There a blue-backed one and a gray-backed one.

The modded Photoshop CS3 icon comes from Adam Betts' collection.

Does anybody know how to have Stattoo be displayed in the center of the screen like shown...?! I don't see any kind of preferences there to do so...!? Also, how did he remove the corner icons of the Stattoo capsules...??

I too would like to know how to get stattoo in the middle.
Turn the icon transparency all the way up in the options to hide the icons on the sides

I moved the Stattoo capsules up by mistake and I can't do it again haha. I was in the Add/Remove Capsules menu so it shows the gray bar and somewhere on the left side i dragged it up, good luck

Oh wow, I can't believe I won, I stayed up all night with my friend Austin Thaler making this overall theme, detail, by detail.
Well thank you TUAW for thinking I had the coolest desktop for the week. It's a real honor. Made my night. And as for all of you who don't like it, and deemed it barf on the screen, your all just either A) Jealous or B) Prove yours is better? :-P
Since I posted the picture I changed the Blue Windows Icon to green. Here is the link to both the Green and the Blue icons. Give thanks to Austin Thaler for them.

Anyways, thanks again TUAW for your recognition. I just applied today to work in an Apple Store in South Florida, wish me luck!

How do you get the dock to look like the G5 grill? I have ClearDock installed, but am looking for a way to get the same look as this dock.

So... how do you change the Boot Camp Icon?

#17: You can change the Windows/Boot Camp partition icon using the same method you can change any other file or application's icon:
1) click on an icon you would like to use and press cmd-i to open the Get Info window.
2) Click on the tiny icon in the upper left of that window (it will glow a light blue) and press cmd-c to copy it.
3) Then go press cmd-i on the Windows partition, press cmd-i, click on its icon and press cmd-v to paste the icon you copied in step 2.

I have to agree with some of the other posters and say that this desktop looks terrible, not to mention the fact that some of the haxies and background apps eat up RAM and CPU cycles.

I think I must be going blind. I cannot see any Vista icon in that screenshot.
