Kottke: iPhone, Wiimote, Newborn accelerometer smackdown
Babies. Wiimotes. iPhones. Sure, they're all cute but how do they perform in an intense gadget-to-gadget comparison for the best accelerometer? Last month, Jason Kotkke put them to the test. The iPhone was the first to fail. A slow or oddly-angled landscape-to-portrait reorientation was enough to throw its accelerometer out of the running. That left the Wiiremote-Baby smackdown. Sure, the Wiimote showed great flexibility registering tiny movements but it lost out to the baby's Moro reflex, the bit where babies who think they are falling throw out their arms to the side. The baby won on both cuteness and fussy startle reaction.

Bwahaha -- Michael, someone writing on a blog wasted YOUR time? What were they doing, holding your head in front of the monitor with little toothpicks stuck in your eyelids? Did they threaten you if you didn't read the article? Is your boss going to write in to complain that when TUAW forced you to read this at work they not only wasted your time but also the company's time and demand a portion of your measly hourly wage back?
I love people like Michael, who get all bent out of shape when they don't get the joke and so they try to piss all over it and spoil the fun for the non-idiots out there. The internet is full of you, Michael -- you are far from a unique little snowflake, no matter what your mama told you.
I loved this post. I thought the humor was nicely placed. Unfortunately, yet again, it looks like those who are way to "green" (personality trait, look it up and correct your issues to be more socially adapted rather then inept; notice that I am speaking of those who demonstrate the more severe issues). Keep up the good work and don't let the overly jealous party pooper individuals get you down.
Funny stuff indeed :)

No.
I was kind of relived to discover this wasn't a drop test, though that could be interesting too....
September 04 2007 at 2:56 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI noticed playing with an iPhone the accelerometers didn't quite react correctly if you are holding them parallel to the ground, or even slightly off that plane. Ah well, chalk up another win for the humans. Guess that Creator new what he was up to afterall, that or after being dropped millions of times over millinos of years, we finally evolved some sort of auto-balancing system....
