iPhone jailbreak interface INdependence updated to 1.2.2

We just received word that Independence, the interactive Cocoa jailbreak program for iPhone has been updated to version 1.2.2 and now supports 1.1.1 jailbreaks. The notes on the site say the the activation/jailbreak process is more complicated than it had been previously, presumably due to the infrastructure changes to 1.1.1.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

I have an iphone activated using INdependence with an AT&T sim from my old phone and all is well. I have no other apps installed and have made no mods to the phone. Anyone know if the 1.1.1 update will brick the phone?

I did it! Used INdependence and the guide in the help section to jailbreak and update my phone. Started with jailbroken 1.0.2 and did the pre-1.1.1 upgrade in INdependence, then opened up itunes and hit upgrade. Something went wrong and iTunes forced a restore on me so I ended up with a restored 1.1.1, but I just downgraded to 1.0.2, jailbroke it and did the pre-1.1.1 again and then when I updated through itunes the second time everything went perfectly. Then used the iphonealley.com instructions for getting installer app on my 1.1.1 iphone. I had a little trouble getting cyberduck to work to (kept getting a can't connect error) but I fixed it by Installing SSH onto the iphone again using INdependance (I guess it gets uninstalled when you update to 1.1.1 in itunes) and then I couldn't find the Applications folder at first but I eventually found it- I had to get out of the var/root folder to find it! Now I have a 1.1.1 phone with my Apps again (Navizon, WeDict, VNotes, Five Dice, Tetris all work!) First time I've done something like that (total novice) so it can be done and it's pretty easy! Can't wait to show my friends my hacked 1.1.1 iphone tomorrow.

I have 1.1.1 and using my T-Mobile SIM, you just have to pay for iPhone Sim Free. But it works great and ya can tell AT&T to bugger off.

updating and everything went just fine, however i could not add apps... so i did the more difficult dev team way and things work great. on a side note, i could not complete the last clean up step, it kept saying /var/root/Media is a directory and would not let me rm. oh well it synced fine.

For everyone unable to use Installer after jailbreaking 1.1.1: follow this link: http://limitededitioniphone.com/iphone-v111-jailbreak-apptapp-installation-guide/

Scroll down to #7: Installing AppTapp. Between steps 9 and 10 of that section, install the community sources. Other than that, just follow the instructions and you'll be good to go!

Sam
I am trying not to go down the path of purchasing a sim unlocking app like Sim free. My current iPhone was unlocked using free apps from Erica. Any thoughts?

@ Keith. I think to unlock your phone at this time you would need to purchase iPhone Sim Free. I've seen it for $60 us.

Hello you all,
about a month ago or so I installed anySIM and ran in... aparently it messed up my phone. I restore it with iTunes.
my question is, can I upgrade to 1.1.1 or I will brick my iphone? does the restore completely restore the iphone and it wont affect anything the fact I ran anySIM on it?!
Thank you!!
