1.1.2 iPod touch Jailbroken--before its official release!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. And here is the first picture from a jailbroken 1.1.2 iPod touch, courtesy of hacker planetbeing. Congratulations to all the iPhone/iPod team, including Pumpkin, Edgan, Dinopio, Drudge, Kroo, and all the rest. Details will be forthcoming as the method gets debugged and safety-features put in-place.

Photoshop... notice how the 2 is not straight, it is a slight angle down on the right side... nor quite a blurry as the 1.1... nice try.

OK will somebody please show me WHERE to get any decent apps once I jailbreak my ipod touch? I've checked all over the place, ok so it's easy to jailbreak, but THEN what the heck to put on the thing?

In reply to Radmacdaddy:
You are absolutely right, this is a Photoshop job, the number 2 is crooked and too close to the dot (.) . Shameful Erica, I guess it keeps folks coming here. ITs all about traffic. What a FUD.

FOR THOSE WHO THINK IT'S PHOTOSHOPPED: it isn't. look at that screen on your updated iPod touch. It is identical. the two is really close to the dot. The two sure isn't crooked on my iPod, but I don't see any crookedness in the picture. YAY TOUCH HACKS!

Well, I tried the updates, and now my ipod is bricked for good.
Reason being that the update requires you remove the keylock pinpad on your ipod before doing the restart.
Now my ipod is stuck in an eternal reboot at the touchpad screen ,and I can't enter my pinpad code to get into the browser to do the update.
Someone really should have pointed that out before attempting to post "jailbreaks".
does this make my ipod a "jailbird" now? cause it seems as though there's no way I can restore this without losing all of my information. Not much in there, but it's not fun having to redo everything, as you all know.
=( helpz?!

There is no Photoshop used here... i have updated my iPod to 1.1.2 and the space between "." and "2" is just 1 pixel... I took a picture of my iPod using Canon 400D, here's the link http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff237/owie007/IMG_0071.jpg
see it for yourselves...

False alarm, everyone.
If you read my previous post, my iPod Touch was locked in eternal resetting at the pin-pad screen.
It did not, however, drop USB connection at any one point, it would just re-play the "charging" sound after every restart. But I noticed windows did not do the "found new hardware" disconnect or reconnect sound.
So I restored it using a 1.1.1 firmware i found on a wiki of some-sort, and now all is well.
Sucks that I can't resume Transformers from where I was before though. LOL

Hi,
I've just got one of the iPhones on o2 and wondering what effect and how we go forward with this device if we hack / jailbreak it? Also what do I need to do to get the hacks on, I've signed to an o2 iPhone contract so I dont need to have activation hacks.
Any help very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Mark

My problem is that now the i ran the program the loading circle stays loading and is locked up after i installed the OktoPrep4 on my touch and then ran updated to 1.1.2 and then it shutdown and is locked on the loading circle. I cannot even touch anything on the screen b/c it is completely locked. Any help is needed and appreciated. I tried restoring and it did but is still locked b/c of the OktoPrep4 install.

First of all, my mac is an intel-based macbook, with leopard and itunes 7.5 installed.
I got my iPhone from the store last week, ignoring firmware 1.1.2 was released, so, since the 1.1.1 "fix"
was out, I used it perfectly until I was suppost to update... Yeap, I stupidly updated to version 1.1.2.
Trying not to loose my mind, I went into the web and found some software to restore the 1.1.1.
- First, I used the restore option with the *.ipsw file of the 1.1.1 firmware.
- At the end of this part, a pop up displayed a message of a '1015 error' but the read me file said it was expected.
- Then I used the "Independence" new beta version because the 1.2.5 version doesn't work with iTunes 7.5.
- Then I used the 'jailbreakme' wifi install to be able to install 1.1.2 iphone firmware (the one that installs the OktoPrep) and everything still ok.
- Then I updated the iPhone to 1.1.2, been extra careful to update instead of restore and at the end, it just locks back again, just like at the beginning.
- Fogetting about the 1.1.2 firmware update, I repeated the procedure and stopped right at the moment where the iPhone is unlocked with the firmware 1.1.1 (before installing OktoPrep), and instead, I downloaded the AnySim 1.1 software to my iPhone and followed instructions properly... But at the end of that process, a pop up indicates that AnySim wasn't able to unlock my Phone.
- In the last 48 hours I have repeated both procedures several times trying to figure out what am I doing wrong but the result is always the same: A beatiful $400 iPod Touch (no calls, no SMS).
And to add a beautiful final touch to this lovely experience, a friend of mine heard a rumor about having limited chances to unlock the iPhone... Afterwards it becomes useless!!!
Well, that's it! As frustrating as it can be, I don't know what else to do, so I turn to you since you've been the warriors of the light in this era of darkness Apple released upon us, the victims that one way or the other contributed to make Steve Job's company what it is today.
