Apple Store 14th Street opening time confirmed

Are you ready to shop and roll? As we reported last week, the 14th Street ("Meatpacking") Apple Store in NYC is due to open this Friday, and official Apple e-vites went out earlier today. New York City's fourth Apple retail outlet (three in Manhattan, one on Staten Island -- no love for Brooklyn, Apple? What's up with that?) will be opening to the public at 6 pm on Friday 12/7. The store will be open 9 am to midnight Mon-Sat and 9-7pm on Sundays.

As was noted last week, the subway icons above are a bit misleading, as none of those lines actually gets you especially close to the store -- the 1 stops at 14th Street and 7th Avenue, but then it's a long walk into a stiff Hudson River wind to get to 9th Ave. and the store location. The closest subway is actually the E train (or A/C/L... heh heh), at 14th and 8th Ave. Be sure to send us your pictures and impressions if you head over for the opening!

Thanks Rich, Brian and everyone else who sent this in

I attend Pratt Institute's Manhattan Campus - not a few blocks away. This is exceptionally nice. I have a major paper due on Thursday, so maybe I'll give Friday as a "Good work" day, go there then go to see the Tree in Rockerfeller Center, visit the Nintendo Store finally, have a nice day of it.

I'm going too :) If TUAW wants some great pics, I'll try and take some for ya. I can do it from the iPhone so you can have live up-to-the-minute pics.

TUAW : do you have a web address I can send it to?

Finally, an Apple Store that's not a pain in the ass to get to for me. It's nice to know I can just get on the L in Brooklyn and end up a block away from the store. Hell, I have to do a lot more walking than that to even get to the L.

SOHO is better than 5th Ave. in almost every way, but it's still always super crowded. Hopefully this store will have less casual foot traffic taking up space for people who actually want to go there to talk to an Apple Genius or maybe even buy something.

How the hell is that a long walk? I frequently walk from 14th and 6th to the meatpacking district and it takes all of 10 mins max.

I sure as hell am not going just for an Apple store opening though...why would I? It's the same shit in a different location.

the subway symbols stand for West 14th Street Apple Store (W14). That having been said, it's the ACE or L by subway or you can take the M11 bus directly down to in front of the store.

Well, technically, it's the A, C, E & L trains to 14th Street & 8th Avenue.
