Preview of New York City's newest Apple Store
Gothamist has some beautiful photos of NYC's newest Apple Store on 14th street, scheduled to open Friday, December 7th. According to Gothamist, customers are greeted by a concierge team upon arrival in the three-story store. There's a spiral glass staircase (the first to span 3 floors in an Apple Store) and a Genius Bar capable of managing 100 customers per hour.If you're going to see this store over the weekend (doors open officially at 6:00 PM on Friday), please let us know! You can get subway directions here.

I used to live right down the street. The other two stores are rather inconvenient to get to for me. I think this will actually be the one I will wind up visiting, as it's the closest to my train. But all this publicity makes me a little bit sad to think about how cool it would have been to live 5 minutes from an Apple Store.

The store is just plain beautiful. And the spiral staircase is a jewel.

I showed up last night around 6 or 7, met Gary from ifoapplestore there this morning around 10, and we're going to scope it back out this evening. I'm up for camping out tonight if anyone else is there, otherwise I'm crashing in a warm apartment and getting there tomorrow morning.

Ars:
The TUAW NYC crew will be swinging by in the AM to check out the line, then hopefully back in time for the afternoon festivities.

@OP - "you can get subway directions here."
The sign has all the info a real New Yorker needs. "W 1 4 and West 14th".

I'll be there tomorrow. Let me know if you want any pictures. I could send them in real time from my phone. Guess what kind of phone it is?
No, really guess-
Fine, it's an iPhone.

This opening was a freakin nightmare. The line was a mob scene, with people getting all desperate and pushing for hours. Young guys were constantly pulling the police barriers apart and cutting in line, which on average was 4-6 people think.
Bad move choosing to have Mary J Blidge make an appearance. I overheard in the crown that radio stations were implying that she was going to be performing for free and that they were giving free computers (plural) all night. this misinformation resulted in everyone and their mother showing up. Literally. there were women there with 5 screaming kids and a stroller waiting in 33F weather for hours because they thought they were going to get free stuff.
It's going to be an odd sight in the Chelsea projects this morning, with every kid running around in an Apple tshirt.
