Apple posts Leopard Graphics Update

OS X 10.5.2 hasn't been out for long, and there is already an update available for it. The Leopard Graphics Update 'improves the stability and compatibility of your Mac.' Oh, Apple, your release notes for 10.5.2 were so detailed, I was hoping you had turned a new leaf, but this update has proven me wrong.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Umm... "Leopard Graphics Update" won't install for me. Something about a checksum-error. (Leopard 10.5.2 on a G5.) All coming straight from Apple's software-update where I frankly expect no problems.
Did a bad-image of this software get loaded to Software Update? If so, why does this problem keep re-occurring and how do I fix it?
Well for the benefit of others who might stumble across this, I finally lost patience at over an hour, and forced a hard reboot. Seemed to take a wee bit longer than normal to boot up, but so far so good - no problems (yet)......

I'm still hung up - been over 40 minutes now - just need to know what others have experienced - if I should continue to be patient or force a hard reboot.......please anyone?
February 18 2008 at 1:36 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'm having same problem - clicked on the Graphics Update and now it's just hanging there at the blue screen with the spinning bar animation - been that way for over 15 minutes now.
Do I leave it alone? Force a reboot? If I'd know it was going to punch a hole in my workday I'd have declined this update as I've had no problems - graphics or otherwise - with 10.5.2
Any suggestions?
This graphics update seems to have seriously speeded up the core animation on my PowerBook G4 1.5Ghz...
Window minimising, Dashboard, and the preference panes moving around in System Prefrences all seem to be much smoother.
Awesome!
So I did update this AM on my editing station which i need to use extensively today and had my assistant editor on the station he said the comp hung on reboot with a blue screen so he forced a manual reboot. It is still hung after the reboot on the blue screen and after reading the forum i told him to leave it alone. Its been sitting there for about a half hour and still is just hung on blue screen. Did anyone else force a reboot when it was doing the update on the blue screen? If so any input? From what I have read it eventually reboots but its been a while. Im starting to get nervous. Any input would be great. Hey apple how bout a progress bar if an update is going to take 15 minutes... Thanks

February 14 2008 at 11:14 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI installed this update this morning and afterward Firefox 2.0.0.12 cannot deal with typing into HTML fields. The cursor doesn't keep up with the letters typed, the backspace doesn't erase the letters you typed, the delete key is useless, etc. Is anyone else experiencing this? Fortunately Safari is not affected, but I would like Firefox to work as well.

Thanks
The update was fine, until I installed the Graphics update.
My 23'' Cinema display (G4 style) stopped working.. trying to get it back to work again, any ideas?
Thanks guys!
I was hoping this would solve my problems, but no such luck. I keep getting a kernel panic when I use DVD Player.
I'm not the only one, either. Other people report the same issue on the MacBook. Click DVD Player icon, get grey curtain of doom.
Everything else works perfectly, though.
