Early 10.5.2 reports: some users having wireless issues
As the Considering that Apple's own Airport Extreme has come in for some criticism over the past months for dropping connections (in some cases prompting radical solutions), and that 10.5.2 has wireless fixes listed among the changes, it's both unsurprising and disappointing that the upgrade hasn't gone more smoothly for WiFi users. If you're running 10.5.2 and seeing problems with wireless, let us know below.
Thanks Scott & Greg.

10.5.2 kills my airport.
I had many problems with airport under 10.5.0, updated to 10.5.2 hoping for a fix, but under .2 I can NEVER connect to my "hidden" network - never ever.
did an erase and install of 10.5.0 - choppy, updated to .3 - dead!
After another erase and install, I am back on 10.5.0, waiting for a definitive fix.
What the hell Apple?

MacBook 2GHz, $1099 model. Refuses to jive with any internet connection whatsoever. Thinking of returning to 10.5.0 or 10.5.1.

installed update 10.5.2 to my new MacBook and my "old" G4 iMac. the MacBook airport icon shows Airport scanning, but still remains a viable option for email/internet/etc. The iMac is a complete disaster as it just scans without stopping, making it unable to connect with internet/mail...even my Apple TV. bought all this new great "stuff", specifically the AppleTV that until this problem is fixed are essentially nice looking paper weights. very frustrated that an "update" could make something that was good worse instead of better. this ust isn't supposed to be the Apple way.
maybe it's time to cancel my order for the upcoming time capsule?

Are they ever going to fix this? I've been using my XP partition ever since this terrible update screwed up my computer.
For shame apple. For shame.

I've got an appointment at the Apple Store tomorrow, my brand new macbook (got it 2/14, right in time to download 10.5.2) is horrible- it drops the connection constantly.

My Mac mini (no, it's not a n wireless card) is working just fine. It's actually faster overall than in 10.5.1.

Since upgrading to Leopard in October I have had the exact same issue. When the MacBook Pro is plugged in, wireless works fine. When unplugged, it drops (scans) constantly. Usually takes 2 minutes to lose the connection. HOWEVER, when I am in Windows (via Boot Camp) the connection NEVER drops. So, all I can conclude is run Windows or keep my laptop plugged in at all times. Thanks Leopard. Almost 6 full months of this and no solutions. I have changed my wireless router to G only. I have changed the performance settings to possibly help with the scanning issue. Nothing had worked. And I a REALLY sick of people saying, oh it is your router. No it is not. This happens on EVERY router I get on. My mom's house, my brother's house, my work and the local coffee shop. he connection behaves the same no matter where. APPLE PLEASE, solve this issue.

i was helping a client work through some wireless issues he's having on a new laptop on their network.
he's running a small home network off a Airport Extreme 802.11n base station. 5 systems are running off it, 4 are wireless, 1 hardwired. 4 of the 5 systems are still on 10.4.11 (and no we're not upgrading yet), the newest laptop is of course running leopard.
there is also a newer Apple TV installed wireless.
so i've been having issues with wireless...surprise, surprise...on the new laptop and the Apple TV.
here's what i've figured out so far, the router needs to be in the 802.11n (compatible with B/G) setting for the wireless radio. this seems to be causing a problem with 802.11n systems. there should be a setting either on the laptop or the base station to run only 802.11n, 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11a. not some hybrid backwards compatible version.
so playing around with the problem i came up with a weird solution which has seemed to be working for the better part of two days.
i set the router to assign a static IP address to the new laptop and the Apple TV based on their MAC addresses.
what seemed to be happening with both devices was that they kept trying to renew their network settings consistent enough to make them 'not work'. so this small work around seems to have helped a lot so far.
but as we all know, these damn computers have minds of their own and come monday it could potentially not be working. we'll see.

I had this problem but found a fix on the xserver and bsd forums. I'm a network engineer and specialize in wireless security so for me having wireless issues at work was not an issue. So far I have tested on two MBP and one MB that were all having problems. Zero issues after the fix.

Not only did this slow down my network transfer speeds to a crawl but I still get disconnected from my router. Can you please tell me what to enter to get this back to its default setting? Thanks.

My PowerBook Titanium DVI stopped authenticating to the Wireless D-Link Router when I installed 10.5 onto it. iMac still authenticates and PB still can authenticate to other wireless routers, it just can't authenticate to D-Link (b, g & n). This is CLEARLY a 10.5 issue, I have no doubt in my mind, the 10.5 installation basically refused to work with it after a first post-install reboot. Works fine with Actiontec (g).

Similar problem here with my macbook 2.0Ghz. Had the same problem earlier during 10.4.10 and 10.4.11 but went away when updated to Leopard and then 10.5.1. 10.5.2 seemed to have reverted the wi-fi situation to the non-functional state. I get full signal but I can't connect to any webpages. The problem would come and go at random. But this only happens when I'm on battery power. Everything works flawlessly when connected to AC power.
