Springlets for iPhone
While we wait for the iPhone SDK, web developers are busily creating iPhone-compatible web apps and pages. There are a few cool ones out there, like Leaflets and PocketTweets. Even FedEx has created an iPhone-friendly page.Recently we came across Springlets. Unlike Leaflets, which is a single site, Spinglets is a collection of sites with customized web clip icons that look right at home on your iPhone or iPod touch.
My favorite is WikiSearch. To use it, just tap the WikiSearch icon on your hompage, enter your search text and that's it! You're taken to the resulting page on Wikipedia. It eliminates several steps.
Other treats include Speed Dial (dial any contact number with a touch from the home page) and Text Sites, which strips all of the photos from a given web page (useful when you're on Edge).

You should add links for quotes/trivia, it would be perfect.
Some of your German speaking readers might want to check out
miofio.com
which offers a similar service with lots of German websites already prepared as webclips...!

February 24 2008 at 5:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThat's the one I use in fact; works great as it abstracts the most relevant info (the kind one is likely looking for if you're at a bar or restaurant for example, in a conversation about movies, and the answer to something about the movie you've seen or are going to see or whatever is just on the tip of your tongue...) but let's you pass through to the full (hidously designed) IMDb page. Thanks

We are currently also working on a TV-Guide web app, due out next week.
anyone know of a site that has a list of some made-for-the-iphone sites?
February 24 2008 at 4:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySomeone should start one (and be sure to make it an iPhone site...). If people want to reply to this post with what they know of I can soon put up a page on my site. I know that Amazon has a beta version that is very usable, for example, and I Can Has Cheezburger (the LOLCat site) has an iPhone version as well. Moviephone as an iPhone site, although Netflix, TVGuide, Slashdot, and O'Reilly Online have iPhone-ready icon buttons, their sites are the standard flavor.
