I believe that a good percentage of our staff here at TUAW is married, female, or both, so being the bachelor that I am, I'll be the one to post the news that
Apple Stores are a great place to meet single men, sent to us by reader Naveed (and I do believe this might be the first and hopefully the last time that TUAW has ever linked to Cosmo). Yes, Cosmopolitan ranks the Apple Store as the number one place for women to meet guys (although it is on the same long list as political rallies and steakhouses, so maybe Cosmo has no idea what it's talking about).
But hey, the single male bloggers of TUAW can't help but agree that yes, if you're going hunting for us, there's no better place to go than your local Apple retailer. Not only are us male Mac-heads
intelligent,
green, and
playful, but when you single ladies want to know how to
share your iTunes media, or
hook up your new Time Capsule, we'll be right there with the answer.

That's funny. I was hoping to meet women at our Mac User Group, but they're all my Mom's age. I guess I should drive to Charlotte and hang out at the Apple Store.

Galley: Yeah, it does suck that MUGs really aren't being utilized much anymore. It's like the popular idea that the ipod users are anti-social is true even so for ibook users :(

Eew. And I say this as a guy who pops in to apple stores quite a lot.

Guess I'm out of luck no Apple store near here. BTW in this town If there was such a store and I went there looking for guys one of two things would happen 1. most of the people working there would be women 2. most of the guys working there wouldn't be interested in women. So either way I'm out of luck there. Besides the only thing I visit a Apple store for is to buy hardware and software and I already know what I want and how to hook it up.
LOL

It's also an interesting place for guys to meet...guys. After a recent visit to the local Apple store I was hit up online by someone who said they had seen me there. Exchange of photos resulted, and well...if there is any more to this story it is left to your sordid imaginations.

Totally agree. NYC Apple Stores are a universal pickup place. Lots and lots of furtive glances between every imaginable combination of male and female adults. Plus Apple employs geeky hotties so there's always someone to ask a question you already know the answer to;)

Yeah you can meet guys there but that's no good for us guys. What I've noticed is that the most attractive girls all go to the Apple Store too. They always go to the iPods. The best thing to do is answer their questions when they're talking amongst themselves. That'll get you a girl in no time.

Well how about an online TUAW dating service (iDate perhaps)? Just make sure you write a script to allow only people running OS X to get in... ;)

I don't see why someone would hang out there. They don't even have stuff to drink, nor places to sit and chat convivially, etc.

as one of the very few female employees of the Apple Store I can attest to the amazing guys working and frequently visiting the Apple Stores... its a wealth of amazing, quasi-nerdy guys - and for some reason, many of them are SINGLE!? go figure.
take advantage ladies... we attract 'em like moths to the flame!

Great! Now we are going to get even more girls coming to the Apple Store to play with Photo Booth here in San Antonio. I kid, I kid... sorta. Actually it's funny that this article gets published since I just started working there last week.

This would be great if Apple had any kind of logical order to their opening of Apple Stores. Here in Michigan, we have a bunch on the eastern side of the state in the Detroit metro area, and a couple on the western side of the state in the Grand Rapids area, but absolutely none in the middle of the state, in the capital city and home of Michigan State University (Lansing/East Lansing), and none in the northern part of the state. --And of course, there are none in the Upper Peninsula (but then, there's NOTHING in the U.P., anyway).
I've been complaining about my town's lack of an Apple Store for a while. It seems stupid that they keep building Apple Stores within 10 miles of each other in the Detroit area, but can't put a single damned store in the city that is home to the state capital and one of the state's two major universities.
The closest Apple Store for me is in Ann Arbor-- About an hour's drive on a good day. I live down the road from a large shopping mall owned by one of the major mall chains, and yet there's no Apple Store here.
And dammit-- I need a job (got laid off from my bookstore) and I'd love to work in an Apple Store!
C'mon Apple! Get on the ball! There are tons of MSU students and Michigan state government employees who use Apple products, and our only place to get them in town is Best Buy, now that CompUSA is out of business.
Are you really going to leave your customer relations up to an Apple kiosk in a Best Buy store?!?!
