Red Baron screensaver for those with strong stomachs
If you're the sort who rides roller coasters for fun, who takes cruises through the North Atlantic in wintertime and laughs at the green pallor of your fellow passengers -- maybe the Red Baron screensaver is for you. Join the OpenGL party as the Baron sails through a simulated sky and over the (presumably French, definitely pixelated) countryside. The Baron himself looks more like a Fisher-Price person or a Weeble than a WW I flying ace, but who's complaining? (Actually, if they had an Easter egg to put Snoopy in the cockpit, that would be awesome.)The screensaver is a promotional item for the upcoming Red Baron movie from Warner Bros., which opens in Germany soon. With any luck the audiences will be over their dizzy spells by then.
Update: Developer Chris Kent is over his bandwidth limit, so you can get the saver via our alternate download here.

Even though my bandwidth quota has been increased, it will probably run out again in the next day or two. I've search the Apple website for a contact who I can write to and ask them to change the download URL. If Apple is listening why don't they make this easier! The screensaver can also be downloaded from:

You call this hard on the stomach? You need to ride some more roller coasters.

On the main movie website yes. But to their credit, how many movie companies do you know that have payed an independent Apple Mac developer to create a Mac only screensaver for them.

Chris Kent, are you the author and reading this? May I mirror it FOR you?

Dangit, the website has exceeded its bandwidth limit. Anyone know another link to this?

Can you tell that I've been using a Mac long enough to have lost my gaming roots? *le sigh*
I assumed it was German. "Feuer Sicherlich Achtung Alles" (fire safety, look out everyone!) or something like that.
:-)
Dagnabit. "Sicherheit."

March 19 2008 at 5:20 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOK, I know my Red Baron looks like a Weeble :-) but this was my second attempt at creating a 3D model in Cheetah3D. You don't want to know what the first attempt looked like!
March 19 2008 at 5:03 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyChris, no slight intended -- he's a fine Red Baron. Now, about that Snoopy mode...
March 19 2008 at 5:21 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI feel bad, because my country has to produce really, really bad movies like this all the time.
...but, but, Snoopy flew the Sopwith Camel! (against the Red Baron)
(okay...I'll shut up now)
Don't feel bad. When I saw Red Baron on the RSS I thought it would be Snoopy related too...
