MacBook Air: It's a good thing

America's favorite ex-con (that's Martha Stewart, not her dog Sharkey, as seen above) just loves her new MacBook Air, according to her blog. Like most MBA owners, she's "amazed" by how thin it is, and is thrilled that the trackpad "works much the same way as the Apple iPhone" -- in fact, her whole writeup reads exactly like an ad from Apple, complete with the link to the Apple Store at the end. Who knew Martha was such a Mac-head?

Although she does settle that debate about whether the book counts as a laptop or a laptop support unit: Martha still keeps her HP right next to the Air, not only because she likes to keep up with both platforms, but apparently because when aides come by her desk to work, she wants them to have choices. And we all know what choice is: a good thing.

Clearly an ad. Apple has been pimping stuff in very annoying ways lately. I've seen the iPhone on multiple shows, and they had a shameless promotion of it on American Idol where they literally stopped the show to "take an iPhone from the crowd" hold it up, and talk about the product for 45 seconds. It was completely shallow, and something I thought Apple was beyond doing.

Martha's the only show I've seen demo-ing computer products and actually saying whether they are Mac or Windows or both, and that was about two years ago before the current "coolness."

(saw someone at the NCAA scorers' table last night with one)

A dozen years ago I did production & IT for Martha Stewart Living magazine - gotta love anyplace that gives you free lunch - and MS was always up on gadgets and technology, even then. I'm not surprised at all.

That said, having two machines around makes it much easier to yell at your underlings and get them to do things RIGHT FRACKING NOW.

I have to say. I'm highly surprised by just how computer literate she is. Not only using Mac, but a Windows machine too. And I also seem to spy Firefox sitting pretty on the dock in that picture.

Way to go Martha, you actually just stepped up a notch or two in my book with this.
