New iPhone ads: Bet, Brilliant, and Music Store

Apple has released three new iPhone ads showing off the iTunes Store, Google maps positioning feature, and how to win a bet. These commercials are done in the regular iPhone ad style. I like the way the bet ad ends with the narrator saying, "... then you'll have the internet and five dollars, in your pocket."

You can see all of these ads on the iPhone TV Ads Gallery page.

All I cared about was that they downloaded a track from the one and only record i would die for. Daft Punk rules the nation, around the world!

Today I got lost in a massive subdivision that I had to enter due to bridge construction. My trusty iPhone told me where I was, and displayed the best route out to my final destination.

Isn't it strange that that ringtone isn't on the iPhone? Is it?

Yeah, I've noticed they always use that ringtone and I wish the iPhone had some like that.

Ever notice that it is always 9:42 and they have 9 unread emails on all the ads? There's a conspiracy in there somewhere.

The iPhone was first unveiled at 9:42 PST January 9th, 2007 at MacWorld.

The first time an actual working device was shown is 42 minutes into the keynote video on Apple.com. When it is powered up, it shows 9:55, and the clock continues to work as normal during all the demos. 14 minutes earlier in the video, around the 28 minute mark, or 9:42 is when Jobs had started talking about it.

While I think the "bet" ad will do well (insofar as getting people to buy iPhones), I shudder to think about the personality types who'll be lured by "bet" into buying one: http://www1.pressdemocrat.com/article/20080331/WIRE/803310327/1036/BUSINESS01
(I think TUAW's Erica is the "Erica" mentioned in the article, although her name is mangled.)

Even with wifi, I wistfully hope that I have sufficient social skills to not inflict my iPhone usage upon my friends. :-)

Notice that the hand holding the iPhone seems bigger than the one touching the screen, and the one in back never moves - it's a fixed image.

I wish they could do some of these types of ads for OS X. Just use the same philosophy. Show how easy it is to use Time Machine, make a slide show or DVD, use the dashboard, stacks, anything. Just a simple, 30 seconds on the Leopard desktop, with views pulled back so you can see the iMac, MacBook, or whatever.

Wouldn't be that hard and would be very effective at selling Macs without resorting to attack ads. Thoughts?
