Bootcamp updated for Windows XP and Vista

Bootcamp 2.1 has just been released in three Windowslicious flavors: Windows XP, Vista 32 bit, and Vista 64 bit. All three updates 'address issues and improve compatibility,' which is always a welcome thing.

Bootcamp, in case you aren't in the know, is Apple's utility that allows you to dual boot your Mac: one partition boots OS X and another boots Windows (it is a little creepy, but very cool).

Windows XP users take note: Bootcamp 2.1 should be installed before you apply Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Thanks, ben.

Hi, I had the missing bootcamp.msi issue.
Fixed it by running the file D:driversappleapplesoftwareupdate.msi. It comes back with an error saying there is a suspended install of the Bootcamp Services installer (or something like that) then asks if I want to uninstall it. Click Yes and it uninstalls something, then it let me rerun the BCUpdateXP.exe again without issue!
Hope this helps someone...

Sorry, should have said that was D:driversappleapplesoftwareupdate.msi from the Leopard CD when booted into XP.

I have the same problem as the latest comments. I think the problem is due to the fact that I have no Mac partition. I think I read somewhere that 2.1 requires a leopard installation (2.0 doesn't). I guess we need someone to strip out the Windows drivers for us...

BootCamp 2.1 is an installer to be installed on your Windows partition. It will not work trying to install it on the Mac OS X partition.

I'm having no luck getting this installed on a XP SP2 Boot Camp partition that is already running Boot Camp 2.0.

I've tried downloading multiple times from Apple.com and ASU, each time after clicking the "Install/Repair" button it gives an error that a network resource is unavailalble, and asks me where BootCamp.msi is.

I've looked in %User%/Local Settings/Temp and see it uncompressing the *.msp files, but none are called BootCamp.msi...

Any others with same problem?

Have you tried saving the installer application rather then opening / running it?

When will I be able to install Windows on a partition on my second internal drive?

I haven't been able to apply this update at all. Rebooted into XP SP2 through Bootcamp and started Apple Software Update. The BC update started to download, but as soon as the installer kicked in I got an error message. I then followed the instructions to download the BC update to disk (still through ASU), and then started the installer. Same sad result. I even tried to reboot into 10.5.2 and went through Parallels and tried to get the BC update to run, but I'm stuck with this error (something with "wrong path" or something). Solutions?
