TUAW Review: NEAT Receipts, part 4
Conclusion
I tend to like products that are well-designed and simple to use, and NEAT Receipts for Mac Advance Release scores high on both counts. I'll be curious to see the updated software that will arrive with the "full release" to see what new features and capabilities this device gains.
Would I buy one? Yep. I currently have a flatbed scanner that I use for assorted purposes, but it doesn't provide the same utility or ease of use that I've seen with NEAT Receipts for Mac. It's also not something that I can throw into my computer bag when I'm off on one of my business trips. I've already told my spouse that this is something we could use to finally control the tsunami of paperwork that we're constantly battling.

I would use it to help keep track of our spending. We're currently over budget almost every month so this would be extremely helpful.

I will add a row of razor blades across the front and swing it about for home defense/hedge trimming.
Plus, I'll use Neat Receipts to keep track of my business spending. I own/am a one-man graphic design firm that runs on s tiny budget and this would help me keep better track of my cash outflow, especially on receipts that include both business and personal purchases.

I would use the scanner and software to scan receipts, then shred the originals and keep electronic backups to tie into my Quicken transactions.

Since I got laid off and have to watch money closely, I'd use it to track each and every outlay of cash until I find a job and beyond.

I'm the designated accounting drone for our family farm -- sorting through & filing the piles of receipts that come in from all of the various people is a nightmare -- this SO sounds like just what I need to make my life happy again! :)

I would use it like a forrest fire! There'd be no more paper receipts left to shake a shredder at!

Right now, I'm letting my receipts go through a process of staying in my pocket until they get torn, shredded, and washed out, and then I throw them in the trash. I'm in desperate need of actually organizing my expenses, especially with having just graduated from college, so I'm thinking this might be a good way to do that. I'd also be interested t0 size it up with mint.com to not only finally keep tabs on my expenses, but also see how to optimize my spending.

First of all great review! If this baby is really as good as you say it is, then I'm in love!
I have a massive stack of receipts that are just waiting to be digitized. I also don't have a scanner right now and this would be extremely helpful to get a backup of all my important documents.
But the thing that I really want to do is to finally get organized! I would get together all of my physical documents, then go out and get a filing cabinet and start scanning. Everything would be backed up on my computer then organized into the filing cabinet. This way I could search for a document on my computer and if I needed the physical copy I could check and see where it would be in the filing cabinet. Kind of a Delicious Library for all of my bills, receipts, and other important documents.

As a self-proclaimed road warrior (I travel about 60% for my job), this could come in handy. Also, I like the fact that I can easily categorize expenses as I have a separate business at home.

This is a really cool idea. I would use this to scan in all of my receipts and save them for audits. With the volitility of thermal receipts, I don't see how anyone could go without this product.

I will put my entire filing cabinet through (if it will fit). I will then use my filing cabinet as kindling for a bonfire and a marshmallow roast. With smores. Can this thing slice meat too or mix drinks? That would be convenient for the ensuing party.

I would love to have something like this to eliminate the huge box all of these fit into now. When you live in a tiny place, any space gain is significant!

Oooo...right now my receipts stay in my wallet for ages until they become unreadable. I would LOVE to be able to keep track of all my purchases like this.

I would use this program to help keep track of the expenses of my family and my wife's photography business. It would also be very useful when it came to tax time to just create a PDF of my business receipts for the year.
