Phoenix, Arizona Apple Store planned
The Graphic Mac is reporting that a new Apple Store has been planned for Phoenix, Arizona. This will be the state's fifth Apple Store, and Phoenix's second. The new store will open in the Arrowhead Mall. James at The Graphic Mac says he's seen the black construction wall and white Apple Logo in front of a large retail space on the mall's lower level. Rumor has it this store will open at the end of this month.
If any TUAW readers want to send us a spyshot of the construction, please do! You'll find the tip link towards the bottom of the page.

Arrowhead Mall in Glendale is in the north part of the city, Arrowhead Ranch, which is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Arizona. There is already an Apple reseller in the area, which will most definitely lose lots of business when the store opens. I have a friend who just got hired at this new location and says it should open later in July. Its in a pretty good location within the mall, too.

Westgate might have been a better choice, but Arrowhead is actually pretty nice.

July 09 2008 at 5:41 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMan, I remember going to the Biltmore Mall/Apple Store. I thought I worked downtown, but holy cow; Biltmore mall was right in the thick of downtown madness.
Parking was also horrendous and stupid.
It looks like this is a fair amount closer to where I worked back then.
But hey, now I'm in Colorado and I have an Apple Store 5 minutes away from work. Life is good :).
The store is also listed on the mall's web site: http://www.arrowheadtownecenter.com/store.asp?id=5961

July 07 2008 at 7:15 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAs reported in other posts. This will be Phoenix Metro's 4th store. Here are two fresh pics I took at the Arrowhead Mall:

Poor location choice (at least priority-wise). They need to put one in Tempe for ASU/Mesa/Central E.V. folks. Chandler, San Tan, and Biltmore are all a haul for a lot of the population that frequent those stores.

I've been in there several times and I've seen where in the mall it's going to be. They've completely covered the entire storefront plus some (it juts out into the walkway a little) with a black wall with an apple logo in the middle. There is a lone door in the middle of it that fades into the black.
