Effin' NDA now applies to rejection letters, too

In response to the negative publicity surrounding some recent, high-profile rejections from the App Store, Apple is now reminding developers that the rejection notices themselves are covered under their non-disclosure agreements.

In what is probably a recursive black hole of logic waiting to swallow the Earth whole, we now know that messages to developers now contain the line "the information contained in this message is under non-disclosure" in all caps.

Not knowing the specific terms of the NDA (because I haven't signed an NDA with Apple), I can't personally say if those terms were in the contract to begin with. Knowing Apple's penchant for secrecy, they probably were, and they're just being a bit more forceful with their reminders.

It's simple. Google offers an open platform called "Andorid." Developers will start putting their sweat and time into developing apps for Andorid, and less for iPhone, that is unless Apple lightens up.

Apple wants to control the entire experience on the iPhone, but that does come at a cost.

I don't understand this stupid rejection policy of theirs. Why are they doing this? I can understand rejecting apps that are poorly written or apps that put iPhone security at risk but, why is Apple being such assholes about approving iPhone apps? Imagine if they did this with Mac apps. We wouldn't have anything.

Now that the Android SDK is up and running, and mobile software developers will soon have even more choice with the opening up of Symbian, I just wish to hell that the semi-literate underclass that's suddenly aggregated like pestilential houseflies around Apple's first truly "common denominator" offerings, the iPhone and iPod Touch, would just fuck off into the distance already.

With hindsight, I'm truly delighted that the hopelessly misguided John Scully rejected Bill Gates' plea to open up the MacOS and license it for general PC use. He spared us at least a decade of this incessant torrent of invective from nattering nabobs of negativism who, lacking the initiative to create or innovate themselves, sit on the sidelines berating any efforts to satisfy everyone, which is an impossible undertaking. This they will soon discover with their experiences on the other platforms - it will be a case of welcome to the Real World.

Here's hoping that the Naysayers "vote with their feet" sooner rather than later - I for one will be happy to see Apple Inc return to their traditional "niche product" status than saddled with all these "barbarians at the gate" with their pseudo-altruistic intentions, which simply trace the way to Hell.

This is the kind of thing that makes me just want to dump all my Apple gear.

It's nothing but a short term, short sighted money grabbing scheme. It's already almost impossible for developers to invest in App store products because they have no idea if they will even be accepted. But this kind of thing will just drive them straight to the Android platform.

Whatever happened to the innovative, open and exciting Apple of 5 years or so ago?

The will to power reeks here, as it does in much of this once fine nation.

But it's gotten too much, and it will collapse unto itself.

I don't think Apple will survive what is about to happen.

I have a theory: Apple feels like there's way too many iPhone developers and wants to scare the bejezus out of them so they go back to developing desktop apps again.

It's no secret that many Indy mac developers have put their desktop apps aside so they could work on the "new shinny toy".

OK, I'm stretching things a bit, but it's fun ;)

I think you're allowed to read it before signing it.
