Ahem... where's the new In-Ear Headphones, Apple?
Some of you might remember the music event in September. Not only did Steve Jobs give us new iPods, but he also promised that Apple would be releasing new in-ear headphones in October. If anyone hasn't noticed, it's now mid-November, and there's no sign of the new headphones anywhere.
Has Apple simply abandoned the release of these new headphones? If history repeats itself, then we might get these sometime next year. When I contacted Apple's sales staff, they told me that there is "no set release date." You can check out the In-Ear Headphones store entry by clicking here; someday you might even be able to buy them for $79 US .

well, I don't know you but not every in-earphone with mic supports iphone. for example, new v-moda vibe II is not supporting 2G ipod touch which is weird to me. something like this. you wonder why new in-earphone doesn't support iphone. I think that they have some strategy for future plan. but it is obviously Apple. I saw that they updated software for ipod classic, 4G nano today for supporting new headphone with mic from software base. so why not for iphone? isn't it? but as I said, we need to wait for little bit longer.

HOWEVER, last week I was on a trip, and travelling in "Must-Have-Handsfree" parts of the USA with a rental car, and brought along the iPhone set...not good...I had to keep a finger in my ear to hear the conversations.
I'd love to spring for the Etymotic hf2 set, but I already have the ER4s (and they are beyond superb). Hopefully J and R will sell the hf2 at the same kind of discount they sell the ER4s!!!!
Also, do the new iPod headphones have a mic?
November 11 2008 at 4:15 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI asked an Apple Store employee this at the OKC store and he said that they're having some trouble with them, but they'll be out MOST LIKELY before December IF EVERYTHING GOES WELL.

The iphone headset works with the new touch. I bought a pair off eBay and they work a treat - clicker and all. Just like on the iphone.
I'm sure these new headphones will work with the iPhone, especially as the iPhone ones work with the touch 2g.
Forget the in-ear headphones, where are the regular headphones with remote and mic? They promised those at the same time, yet they're still listed in the Apple Store as "Coming Soon".

I have the old ones (in the sqaure case) and I'm quite pleased with them.
