Apple to be "aggressive" on Black Friday
If rumors are to believed, Apple will do its part to stimulate the economy on November 28th, also known as "Black Friday" here in the US.
Generally recognized as the start of the holiday shopping season, the day after Thanksgiving is when retailers lure shoppers out of their beds at ungodly hours with the promise of huge discounts. Yes, nothing says "let's go shopping at 5AM" like a stomach full of tryptophan.
While Apple has not revealed their Black Friday plans, analyst Ben Reitzes of Barclays Capital says he expects aggressive pricing to compete with a dismal economy and significant offers from competitors. For instance, some American big box stores are expected to drop PC prices below $300US. How will Apple do it? Twenty-five billion dollars in cash reserves and no debt certainly helps.
So go easy on the Schlitz and set your alarms for The Crack of Dawn. There are deals to be had.
Update: Yes, the image originally accompanying this post had the appointment listed on the 27th. Let's just say it was a test of your skills of observation.

Why does the calendar in the picture have the appointment on Thursday rather than Friday?

LOL. Dave just wants to make sure he's there *extra* early.

I am sure they'll lower iPod prices, or do some kind of a bundle or something. Probably push the touch. I think it'd be cool if they lowered the Mini price down to $200, they would sell like hot cakes I bet, it'd give them a chance to sell off old stock if they are planning to release a new one.. Who knows.

The title is kind of misleading.. makes it sound like apple has said they are going to be aggressively pricing stuff. In fact some analyst just says he expects aggressive pricing.

you're right. Please, tuaw, relax and give us headlines that fit your stories. Kinda boring to have to find these titles blown out of proportion.

Whatever. All I've heard from Apple is that they may do $100 off certain Macs (probably MacBook Pros). That's not a deal at all. Buying a $2400 LCD TV for $1400, now THAT'S a deal.

Does anyone know whether these price drops will be applied to the education-store as well? :)

I heard that in the UK they may even go as low as 50% off the older Macbooks. Book your flights now...

I would hold off... until after that date. Then rack up a huge credit card bill to help my poor friend Jobsy.

If I remember correctly, the discounts/deals weren't all that great. Great for those who were going to buy a computer anyway, those customers would save a hundred or so, but nothing really that will actually go out and buy a Mac.

Yeah, nothing spectacular at all that I remember. I remember I got an iPod remote
for like 30 bucks, which I was excited about until they came out with the new
batch of iPod remotes with the nicer earphones the following week. So I am sure
at least they'll try to clear out stock of soon to be gone items. Their game plan.
