iTunes 8.0.2 now available, adds VoiceOver capabilities
Apple just released an update to iTunes. Version 8.0.2 "...improves stability and performance and provides a number of important bug fixes." They note that this update adds VoiceOver capabilities for both iTunes and iTunes U. VoiceOver is the built-in screen reader utility for Mac OS X that helps visually challenged users. In addition to VoiceOver, Apple also includes the following "important" bug fixes:
- Addresses a quality issue creating MP3s on some computers.
- Fixes a connectivity issue with the iTunes Store when using some Internet proxies with Mac OS X.
- Improves accessibility with VoiceOver.

the iTunes 8.0.2 SUCKS!!!!! I installed it on my Vista system and after I did, it now WON'T allow me into the iTunes program AT ALL!!! Every time I click on the iTunes icon, it says installing, then afterwards it comes up saying install complete, please restart your system.. EVERY TIME I DO THIS!!!!!!! WHAT THE F@&K!!!!!!!!

iPhone software tommorow? nothing big with the update but overall nice changes to the iPhone. Guess we all find out tommorow

Dude, I don't wanna hear if you are pirating apps from the store, I have developer friends and they work hard to make some money through the app store. You know, not all apps sell as fast as the most popular ones. It's not a cash cow for all.

When you say 'cracked apps,' and if you mean Requiem 1.8.2, which strips DRM, then yes! It seems to be broken when upgrading iTunes. My advice to Requiem fans out there, hold off upgrading.

Just to let you know... I work with app developers as a graphic designer, and I know how much work goes into the apps. I use cracked apps to test them since there is no trial system set up.. If I like the app, I buy it.. If I don't.. I remove it.. Thank you anyway, though.

From MacOS X Hints:
"In iTunes 7, there was a preference to disable the links to the iTunes Store -- these are the small arrows that appear when you select a song in your library. In iTunes 8, however, that preference is gone. A bit of digging in the iTunes' binary found the solution, thankfully.
If you'd like to disable the iTunes Store link arrows, quit iTunes, open Terminal, and run this command:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE
Relaunch iTunes, and voila, no more arrows! To reverse this behavior, you can repeat the above command (quit iTunes first), but replace FALSE with TRUE. (Or, if you prefer, you can completely delete the added preference with defaults delete com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links).
I'm sure this would have been submitted by someone at some point, but the arrows annoyed me enough to go digging for a solution -- and thanks to Kirk McElhearn for his help in finding and testing the fix!"
