Ausgezeichnet! Apple's first German retail store opening Saturday
It's been in the building phase for a while, and now the date is set: Saturday should see the opening of Germany's first official Apple Store, on Rosenstraße in beautiful Munich. No word yet on whether the German retail employees will be applauding and cheering the first customers at 10 am, but we sure hope so. Perhaps the commemorative t-shirts will be printed with "Hallo, Ich Bin Ein Mac."

Awwww I guess it sucks that I'm in the US now then.. I love attending these openings. Oh well. My parents are in that area right now... I'm sure it'd be interesting for them to know about this bit of news.

Hmmm, the store look pretty boring actually as far as it can be judged by the video. A bit dark, a bit cramped with stuff, definitely a lot less beautiful and majestic then the New York or London locations.
I don't really see the difference between this and the ugly new Gravis store (Gravis is one of the main resellers of Apple products in Germany and they have been doing for the German market what Apple should have done a couple of years ago).
Too bad, I was really looking forward to this. But I guess at the end of the day it's still just a store and Munich is not NY or London...

Michael (comment above) its not only about the building. Gravis give the WORSE customer service. One should wait long time untill someone notice him (if at all) or do him a favor that he gives service. Most of the workers have NO IDEA how many of the products and softwares work, they are absol. not professional.
Sometimes I think its better they just leave the MAC selling for the one or two small stores that sell them as well).
Anyway, the building cannot be compared with the one in NY as they did not have the place for it.
It is still a big deal, considering that there was no Apple Store untill now in this rich beautiful city that serves as a center in Europe for many countries around.

"Hallo, Ich Bin Ein Mac." = "Hallo, Ich bin Mac" the "ein" is understood. This is the same as when JFK said "Ich bin ein Berliner", as if to call himself a pastry. Correct would have been "Ich bin Berliner". But of course, everyone knew what he meant.
