"Pull My Finger" returns to the App Store

MacRumors reports that the developer of the "Pull My Finger" iPhone application was finally accepted by Apple. You may recall that Apple banned the application from the App Store a few months ago due to "Limited Utility." It looks as though Apple has changed its mind about the application, and has decided to finally allow it into the Store.

The developer told MacRumors, "[Apple] told me that they are going to start approving a whole new "genre" of apps, and that Pull My Finger will be the first to be accepted in this genre. As of now Pull My Finger is available in the app store."

If you would like to download this once-banned application, you can purchase it for $0.99US from the iTunes App Store. Do you have a theory about Apple's change of mind? Tell us in the comments!

for me the category could be "jokes" or "tricks" where to put all the "funny" apps (like eye tricks) or the "magician" apps...

On the note of rejected apps: Does anyone else wonder what ever happened with that app that briefly sold for $999.99? Did the people get their money back? Was there any follow up?

they're just preparing the app store for the upcoming Walmart buyers. there are 3 types of people who would own this app: children, retards, white trash.

which one are you?

This only goes to show how screwed up Apple's App Store approval process still is. I mean, how does an app go from "limitied usability" to a "new genre of apps"?

Apple's arbitrary approval process sucks for both the consumer and the programmer.

It was limited utility. Limited usability is far, far worse.

I can't believe no one made any comments relating the acceptance of this application with the rumors about Walmart carrying iPhones.

Now, I don't believe the stereotype of Walmart shoppers being dumb rednecks, but just shocked about no one saying anything. :-)

'new "genre" of apps', how about "Useless" or "Junk"?
Apple should really start looking into getting more professional and useful apps into the app store... the current state can be summed up in one word: depressing.

that's not true. the "current state" of the apple store already is so diverse there's no way you can sum up the ENTIRE store in a single word. there are several very powerful apps that can come in more than handy. http://www.jugaari.com/features.php check out Jaadu VNC, and tell me that's depressing. maybe you should poke your nose into the Utility, Productivity, and Business genres of the store a little more often. i dare you to say there is not a single worthy worthwhile app in there. i can sum up the state of Huang's judgment in one word: Ignorant.
