City of Heroes comes to the Mac

As promised, the Mac "Special Edition" is a digital release, and comes with both the City of Heroes and the City of Villians expansion, as well as a month of game time (after that there's a subscription fee to play along), and two exclusive items: a Mission Teleporter power, to get you directly into missions, and a special "Valkyrie" costume set. The game is available for $19.99 over on NCsoft's site right now, so if you've been waiting to get some superhero MMO action underway, now's your chance.

agreed! I've been using Crossover for the time being but I know some people who haven't got it work.

I've been playing GW for the last year through Boot Camp. Quite simply, I'm done waiting for mac ports of anything. Boot Camp works with everything, and if anything, having to reboot is an incentive not to play games too much, which quite frankly I need sometimes...

Can I use this version free somehow since I already own the PC version and its driving me nuts to have to keep booting into windows every time I want to play?

Yes. If you already have a CoH account there's no need to buy anything unless you want the extra in game items.
You can download the client direct at ftp://client.coh.com/US/

WARNING TROLL POST:
Wow. Porting a 4 year old MMO. It would be ironic if they shut down the servers in like a year.
I wonder how many players they have subscribed to the game.

I was thinking the same thing: "Too little, too late". I was with the game for 4 years but most everyone I know has completely lost interest and left. Maybe City of Heroes 2 will have a Mac client right out of the gate.

i thought the same thing.

Troll post nothing. This seems like bad news to me. The game is already failing. How is a mac port supposed to succeed? And when it doesn't, isn't that more reason to -not- make mac ports? "Well City of Heroes failed miserably." Well of course it did, it was already dead.

Why, it's a screenshot of a screenshot application, of course!

He does what I usually do when the game isn't ported for the mac - watch screen shots and believe!

What about "Pirates of the Caribbean Online" at http://www.piratesonline.com
We have been playing this online game for over a year now and works great on the Mac! My whole family plays it under the one account on four different computers.
Great fun sailing your ship with your wife and kids on the cannons!

Bootcamp ftw. My late 2008 mbp handles L4D pretty darn good. Just gets a tad hot.

Can you play without the MMO aspects if you don't want to pay the subscription?
