TUAW Macworld Video: Her first Expo won't be her last
This is Julie Rodriguez's first Macworld Expo, but it won't be her last. Coming all the way from Fargo, North Dakota, she stopped and talked with us briefly at Moscone's south hall, and told us about what she saw, what she liked, and why she'll be back next year.
"Some [companies] I've never heard of before, so that's actually why I was here: to find these people I just can't find otherwise," she said. "I'm here to find these little vendors that I don't hear of elsewhere, and get a chance to get some hands-on with the products."
In appreciation, TUAW gave Julie a brand-spankin'-new TUAW t-shirt. Thanks, Julie!

"I went to Macworld 2009 and all I got was this crappy TUAW shirt!"
I kid, I kid...

Ah guys, really need to ramp up the production quality here.
Not to mention encode in the proper aspect ratio.
Love TUAW, but these things are kinda hokey.

I second that.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the great coverage. I just want to share that personally this post doesn't appeal to me at all on two fronts:
1) I don't know who this person is or why I should care what she says
2) Video is a big pain. I'm the kind of person who doesn't have a TV, and is online until all hours of the night because I find Video to be a poor format to receive information. Of course there are exceptions, but you might want to check log files of how many people "read more" of text postings vs. "view more" of videos. I'll be happy to admit I may be the exception, but I thought I'd share. I know you like your new video equipment...

As far away as North Dakota? A whole 2850 kilometers? Roughly one day of car travel? A few hours of air travel?
Really?
Just imagine how terrible it must be for the poor sods in the other states in the middle of the country, not to mention the people on the east coast (yes, they too are people).
Not to mention people from all over the world (You know, South America, Australia, Asia, Europe and most likely even Africa) flying for quite a bit longer.
Even though the majority of MWSF visitors are from the U.S., there's nothing special about traveling that short a stretch.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that "Julie Rodriguez of Fargo, ND" (as opposed to "Julie Rodriguez of faraway Fargo, ND") found what she was looking for, and I'm glad she's planning on attending again -- conferences and expos are great fun; but to be frank, this little post was another trip down the slippery slope of quality, and there've been a few of those lately.
Where did all the good posts go?
(Yes dearies, go ahead and flame me if you feel you have to)

Geez, I thought I was the only wierdo from Fargo, ND who read TUAW (or owned a Mac for that matter). Guess I'm not!

I thought the same thing. Actually, I'm not in Fargo, but in Cavalier, which is about 2 hours from Fargo.

I wondered if TUAW would be able to score an interview with *the* Julie Rodriguez.
