Pencils down, iPhones up

The next time someone calls you a pencil-necked geek, take comfort in the knowledge that the humble pencil can be used to do wonderful things, especially if you happen to have a few of them lying around plus some heavy-duty rubber bands. In fact, with the kind of ingenuity displayed by the Geeky Gadgets team, you can whip up one delightful iPhone or iPod touch stand. The same design could work with sturdy twigs and twine, if your office supply oversight is too strict to allow the pencil version -- impress your cubicle-mates with your Adirondack outdoorsy style.
In a similar vein to the binder-clip stands featured on Cult of Mac and Instructables, this stand does a nice job of reusing found materials. If you've got a favorite iPhone stand made from atypical structural items, throw it into the TUAW Flickr feed.
Thanks Ged!

Michael im sorry you have to take the abuse that these total asses constantly give you and TUAW
first of all...NOT EVERY STORY HAS TO BE FRONT PAGE NEWS...
this is not CNN or FOXnews...this is a BLOG...its actually in the name of the website you are constantly berating...if you dont like what they have written...move on...leave the writers here alone...they do a great job of giving us just what we need to hear and the rest of it is entertainment...
the fact of the matter...you took the time to leave a post...so chances are you will be back here tomorrow...and im pretty sure of that fact...
you haters are the same ones that constantly bad mouth Apple, Steve Jobs, and the like but are the first little biaches in line when the new toy comes out...
and besides the darn article was what less than two paragraphs and a cute picture...
please dont come back here if you want to waste everyone else's time having to read your garbage about how "BAD AND WRONG" TUAW is again...get off the cross we need the wood...
speaking of wood...very cute little article Michael...i really like to read the light and funny ones because i have way too much seriousness in my life to have to read about it too...
thanks Michael and TUAW for giving us a great weblog
Design is good, needs improvement... the rear pencil atleast should be the type with an intergrated eraser to stop the stand sliding.

Don't be cheap and go buy a dock or something for your iPhone.
I'm going to do this today. Thanks TUAW!

You are such a dweeb, Rose, it's impossible to tell if this is an attempt at humor or not.
I thought it was quite useful!
