iLife '09 ships tomorrow

Apple issued a press release first thing this morning, noting that iLife '09, announced at Macworld, is shipping tomorrow for $79.
We covered iLife '09's major features, including face detection and geotagging for iPhoto, guitar and piano lessons for GarageBand, and another re-imagining of iMovie.
If you purchased a new Mac on or after January 6, you can upgrade to iLife '09 for $10. iLife is also available in a family pack: five licenses for $99. A box set that includes iLife, iWork, and Mac OS X is $169, and individual music lessons are available separately for $5 each.
iLife '09 requires Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later. It's available for purchase (among many locations) in the Apple Store online, at Apple retail stores, and Amazon.com.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

Anyone know if I can purchase iLife '09 on the Apple Store online and download the software? Or will they ship me a box and make me wait like it was 1999?

it really is too bad there isn't an option to download apple's software digitally. i'd probably upgrade to ilife '09 immediately if that ability was there. 'box versions' do require one to have it shipped to you, or even better for apple, lure you into one of their stores which could lead to you buying additional products.

Purchased the family license for this back on Jan 9th and my order says it ships 2/2 (has said that since it was placed). So should I expect it sooner or is there some delay I don't know about?

Nice.

You can download (and then activate) iWork 09 but iLife 09 only ships in a box ... shame

It is a shame, especially considering the virus-ridden bootlegs of Apple software that are making the P2P rounds. How else am I supposed to get it for free?

I'm wondering if iLife '09 will work on ppc macs. Any clue?

Yes: It says it works with 867MHz Power Mac G4s and above.

iMovie and the Learn to Play feature in GarargeBand both require an Intel machine.

"iMovie requires a ... Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0GHz or faster) or iMac G5 (1.9GHz or faster)."

so when is it safe to order a new macbook pro and have ilife 09 preinstalled? i don't want to shell out ANOTHER $10 for an 'upgrade'.

Mine shipped on the 24th, eta the 29th.
And I managed to score a copy for only $10, despite having only purchased my MacBook in November 08. :D
(I lied about the purchase date though.)

Nice one William. You showed all of those devs that worked so hard on iLife your true loyalty. Free upgrades forever I say!! Hell, all software should be free!! Bring on the crapware that would ensue.

Oh come on, getting a $10 on software you purchased 2 months ago isn't exactly going to keep apple employees from putting food on the table...
The whole iLife thing pisses me off though. I mean hey, it used to be free! Now it's freeish, unless you want to upgrade the version that comes with your mac. Then, $80. What? They charge $80 to upgrade free software that came with your computer? Ok maybe I can buy it. The thing that really ticks me off though is that they sell it only in a bundle. I, like many others I'm sure, only use iPhoto out of this bundle. The new features in iPhoto 09 look great, but $80 to upgrade it? That's a bit steep...

I was wondering : I purchased iLife '08 in December.
Is there a "update" licence to upgrade to iLife '09 or do I have to by a whole '09 new licence ?
