The Sims 3 coming to Mac and iPhone Summer 2009

Of course, we'll have to believe it when we see it -- EA uses Transgaming for their Mac ports, and they've left a little bit to be desired so far. But just the fact that they plan an almost concurrent release for the sequel to one of the biggest games of all time bodes very well. The Sims 3 probably won't make too many waves in the hardcore PC gaming set, but anytime a major publisher plans a simultaneous release for a big title, we definitely give a nod of approval.

Looks like I will pirate PC version until I can purchase the Mac version. What a shame... At least it is not waiting almost a year before it is ported.

The Sims 3 will actually be released on the same day as its PC counterpart - both versions are going to be on the same disc! It was confirmed by an EA staff member in their Sims community boards:
http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?threadID=d4e4f09aa27cee5891c8d37c275e71f6&directoryID=225&startRow=1&hideFramework=true&openItemID=item.225,item.43,item.61,item.104,item.41,item.127,item.23
This is great news, and it's the first time a Sims game will be released for Mac and PC at the same time.

It's disappointing, really, that news pieces aren't more thoroughly researched by Mr. Schramm. Although the Sims 3 is published by EA, it is created by the Maxis division. And I think I speak for everyone who has an iMac and plays Spore - Spore runs flawlessly.
I generally read the TUAW feed through Google Reader. By about the second sentence I can tell already "Damn, must be Schramm." It's a shame that there isn't a Schramm-free feed from TUAW. There'd be much less typing-for-the-sake-of-typing and much more news that, as a Mac User/Fanboy, I care about.

Incorrect. Sims and maxis are no more.
Sims is published by EA and created by. The Sim division.
Spore is published by EA and created by the Maxis division
