Greensboro, NC Apple Store set to open this weekend
We've been waiting for this opening for a long time. Way back in July, we posted a photo of what (we thought) was the Greensboro store. It turned out to be a Williams-Sonoma. Next the launch date got pushed back, as Apple decided to make an even larger store than what was originally planned. This time, we've got official word.
Apple Store Friendly Center (doesn't that sound nice?) will open Saturday the 21st at 10:00 AM. This store is located at 3320 West Friendly Center in Greensboro. If you attend this opening, lets us know! We'd love to see your photos and stories.

I live about a mile from there, and I can't TELL you how excited I was to see the big apple up over the (currently enshrouded in black-painted plywood) storefront the other day. The logo was lit from inside the last time I drove by there, so I knew we had to be getting close.
Friendly Center IS nice, btw, but it's named after the street, Friendly Avenue, which is in turn named after the Society of Friends. Greensboro was founded by Quakers, and still has a very large Quaker community.

I will be there and I will have my Rebe XTi with me.
Any ideas on when we should get in line for the 10am opening? I was thinking 8:30.

Have to work on Saturday but it'll be nice having one in GBoro. I'm tired of ritzy SouthPark and if I have to drive I'd rather drive to Greensboro. I'm in Hickory...we're still waiting for our Apple Store.

The ritzy Charlotte store has been good to me! Replaced an out of warranty two year old MBP for me when they had trouble getting a paid repair right.
Glad to see another store in NC though.
I think the Hickory store is set to open right after iTunes - Zune compatibility starts.

Think they'll have anything good going on for the opening? I live in Raleigh, but was considering driving over for the hell of it. Then again, standing in line for the 3G was enough standing in line outside an Apple Store for me, haha. (Until the next iPhone)

I move half way around the world and now my hometown gets an Apple Store. But it does make it easier when I am back in town. I used to fly in to RDU just to stop at the one at Southpoint on my way back to the the airport.

I'm just getting back home to eastern NC tonight from California. I'm going to be there with the wife and daughter on Saturday for sure. Wish we'd had this store 5 years ago though. We're moving to Germany next month. LOL
