Found Footage: iPhone prototype
Remember the ebay auction of an iPhone prototype? Well here's a video of another prototype from Germany -- although it looks very different from the one in the auction. The UI, still very rough, at least looks more "Apple"-ish in the German video.
There are a few interesting moments too, like seeing a Terminal button (makes sense) and a little demo of the iPhone trying to track a finger as it moves across the screen. While we wait for iPhone OS 3.0 it's interesting to see the pre-1.0 release and realize how much has changed in such a short time.

I think I really like how he hits the home button and a menu pops up asking what he'd like to do, rather than just going back to the home screen. Its right at the end (2:52 mark) and in the video I never seem him hit the home button any other time. Maybe its just me but having a way to double tap the home button to access wifi, bluetooth and 3g on and off toggles would be amazing.

If u jailbreak ur device, u CAN have instant access to those toggles and more with a simple swipe of the status/title bar. It's a little package called SBSettings.
Look it up. I'm sure there are screenies all over.

Wow. That's the zippiest iPhone I've ever seen. Things instantly appear when you select them. Look how far we've digressed.

Or you could just jailbreak and use SBSettings to have all these toggles on a drop down screen with a finger swipe...

I've jail-broken before and I have had nothing but problems. Hundreds of dropped calls, Every update was like a juggling act so I didn't loose data. I agree with you that there are "other options" but I shouldn't have to hack my device to do it either.

If this is a pre v1 iPhone, why is there a iPhone 3G listed in the Apple site in the browser window? Seems odd to me...

He is visiting apple.com via web browser. Go ahead and type it in your address bar and I'm sure you'll see exactly what he saw. Now if it were an actual application I'd be a little more suspicious.

Just because the iPhone is old doesn't mean the video has to be.
If I had a 5 year old phone and filmed myself showing you the features of it and then I opened the web browser to show how webpages look like, do you expect the Apple website or Yahoo website from 5 years ago to pop up? Of course not - it would be the current page as of today! Sometimes I wonder if people think a little before they post.

Please can people remember this is most likely NOT pre-1.0 version of iPhone OSX. Currently the best guesses are that the software is the fake software used by the hardware developers (remember software devs used fake hardware as well to restrict leaks about the product), and these released handsets are most likely ones sent to AT&T and other carriers pre-launch to test with their systems.
