Just as developers around the world are hearing about the new
iPhone features, Apple has updated their
Dev Center. With the new site, existing developers will get immediate access to the new iPhone 3.0 SDK. That is if you are able to login. Currently the Dev Center is experiencing extremely slow load times, and kicking some users off when they try to login.
It will be interesting to see if non-developers will register for the $99/year program, just to get access to the beta of iPhone 3.0. Be sure to take part in our poll below.

Sooo, what's the rules behind a Dev "sharing" the beta to a non-dev such as myself?......

if im right, it only works on iphones set up through the Developer portal using UDID. If you personally know a developer, im sure they would be glad to "let u in"

It's totally dead over here as well. You'd think Apple would imagine the great demand this time around no?

Does this include the firmware that you can load to the phone? I believe that the 2.0 SDK had two tiers, one that included the firmware and one that didn't.

Nope,

You get nothing.

Must have just been select enterprise developers that had access to actual firmware – the rest had to use the simulator.

Thanks for posting the story--as if getting logged in weren't already impossible enough :)

Well I got logged in finally - and found the 3.0 software is only available to paid developers. :(

I thought that was the case. Last thing we need is people downloading the SDK with nothing to use it for. This should only be for paying developers. I think it would be nice to look at the frameworks and new API's though.

I was planning on registering with the site anyway, but man, I have not imagined the line would this long.

Well I am a paid developer and it is not showing me as such. Their site is an utter mess. Do not bother until they can sort it out.

Make sure you read the top of the page after logging in. You have to agree to a new agreement before you can access the 3.0 SDK.

If you download the beta, and install it on your phone. You can't go back to 2.2.1. It gets locked in 3.0 beta. Could be really laggy or buggy, and your apps might not work... im downloading it now. Not sure what to do!

I wonder how many non-developers are slamming the site thinking they will be able to get their hands on the beta? This is annoying. I was able to login when it first came back up, but our enterprise admin needs to accept the updated license agreement before we can download. He hasn't been able to get in at all.
