MacHeist 3.0 Update: $100K for charity, new unlock

Since 25% of each purchase is donated to a group of charities, that means that over US$100,000 has been raised in just about a day. MacHeist has now unlocked Ambrosia's WireTap Studio as part of the bundle, adding another US$69 of value (now US$558 worth of apps) to the package. The next goal is to unlock BoinxTV, a US$199 video production suite. What will it take? $400,000 worth of charity fundraising, or about 33,300 more MacHeist bundles being sold.
If you already own some of the included packages, you can easily "gift" your friends with your licenses. It's a great bundle, a sweet way to get some excellent Mac apps for a song, and an easy way to donate to some wonderful causes as well.

Are we going to get an update every time these guys take a breath?
Good to cover it once, not so good to continue to give them free advertising.

Actually, it's not $558. That was the total before it was unlocked. It's currently at $627. Either way, awesome deal! :D

400K before the next unlock??!!
Hm, i start to doubt that the Hit List will get unlocked. It may required 800k to 1M charity raised before that is unlocked.

I feel like every app bundle with unlocks in the last few years has easily hit all of its unlock levels. The app developers participate to get exposure to new customers, so I think the unlock levels are set at levels that are fully expected to be hit. It's all just marketing to generate excitement and additional blog coverage.

I wasn't going to purchase just for phoneview as I didn't want/need the other apps but then I saw wiretap studio unlocked and it was a done deal.

I agree with moko. Even if 25,000 people buy the app package, we'll still be short of 1 million raised. And I'm sure Espresso will be more than that... although, I'd be happy if Hit List is reached.

I hope they are working on an iPhone version as it would be an awesome app

Yeah, I thought I'd buy now and let the registrations come when they may, since I'm at work without my Mac anyway... but the site refused to load on IE 7 (I mean, they made a conscious decision to refuse to load on IE 7; a custom dialog box popped up telling me they weren't going to load) and, while I could use most of the site using Firefox 3, filling out the form and clicking the Buy button just gave me a blank white window with a padlock icon in the corner. So I have no idea what level of fail they've generated.

Well, so far for the money I've received a copy of SousChef, and that's it.
I hope they sort the problems a lot of people are reporting, soon.

I am not sure what the problem is for some people saying they haven't got their software YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT YOURSELF. Also if you give a correct email address you get a copy of the receipt page which has all the download links and passwords applicable to your name. Simple really if you use your credit card and give a different address then it wont match your card . I can't see what the problem is the system works very well.

Many people have multiple charges to their PayPal, credit or check card accounts because they received no confirmation whatsoever during the ordering process - email or confirmation page after submitting.

I think they will unlock the last two earlier. Bundle sales tend to increase after everything has been unlocked. They'll probably try to profit from this effect.
(Btw, if you plan to buy it, it would be wonderful if you did it via my invite link http://www.macheist.com/bundle/u/140885/ - it'll unlock another app for me. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!)

I stayed up late installing the new MacHeist apps, but I gifted a few to my wife. Am I wrong to be more excited about World of Goo than anything else?

Nope - I have World of Goo for the Wii and it's one of the best indie games I've ever played. Extremely fun, that one.

Bought my bundle yesterday when it was released and got the Big Bang Board games as I was one of the first 25,000. Just need to get a couple of buyers through my link to unlock the referral apps . Use my link please if you're thinking of purchasing the bundle - http://www.macheist.com/bundle/u/90058/

Hey TUAW, in past Macheist articles, spammers were deleted and banned. Is it OK now? There are two and one's been up for eight hours.
