WWDC 09 is a sellout -- time to call your ticket scalper
Last year, the limited number of registrations to the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) sold out on May 14th. This year, the seats at Moscone Center didn't even last until May. A tweet from @polarbearfarm alerted TUAW to the sad/happy news that WWDC sold out today. It's sad news, because there are a lot of procrastinating developers who didn't even have a chance to register. But it's also happy news, because this once again shows the vibrant and active life in the Apple development community.
As with last year's non-attendees, you'll be able to purchase session videos shortly after the conclusion of WWDC on June 12th, 2009. Next year, when you see our post saying that WWDC 2010 has opened for registration, get out there and get registered ASAP!

If a really developer intended to go, he would have signed up before April 24th to make sure they saved $300!

By definition, one who procrastinates always had a *chance*, they just didn't take it. No personal offense to anyone who will be missing out, but perhaps those who put off registering for WWDC are also likely to put off actually developing an app?
Personally, I think Apple may need to move WWDC to a bigger home again. Moscone West is really cool and all, but when you're selling out, it means you're potentially turning away many interested developers. On the other hand, limiting the conference size may be a way to keep from completely tapping out all the engineering resources has during that week. Or maybe it's a ploy to make sure the crowd doesn't become so overwhelming that a company executive has to dance and chant on stage to entertain them... ;-)

maybe "procrastination" is just the wrong word here. How about somebody waiting for his salary to come through?
anybody who relies on the exact definition of a word to make a point should be distrusted.

developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer, developer!
oh, sorry! I'm guessing that I'm in the wrong event.

i was an attendee in 2008; and didn't re-register for 2009
WWDC was disappointing as an attendee; especially when you compare the event, the networking and the general attitudes of other developer events of the past (specifically; Palm Develoepr Conferences etc). If the conference is packed; you don't want to go there - you wont get the 1:1's you really need to get with the engineers (they wont have a chance to). Maybe it was just Apple's way of doing things - but I wasn't impressed.
Conferences should be about networking and sharing experiences with other developers, building business relationships and opening opportunities. If your after information; check the developer portals - one thing I can definitely congratulate Apple on is the quality of their documentation and its availability.

Hopefully it was real developers that snatched up the tickets instead of people wanting to catch a glimpse of the new iphone
