To get an instant map to any address, just go to your Address Book and right click on the address field of any one of your contacts and select "Map Of." The address will then be revealed in Google Maps on Safari. You can do the same if a data detector determines there is an address in an e-mail in Mail.

Why, oh why, do we need a restart to install an application?!

Probably because WebKit is an OS-wide framework that is relied on by a variety of applications, and so it loads before other stuff in the OS, and can't be updated without shutting down certain system processes
or did you just want to complain…?

It’s a fair question. On Linux, one can update anything short of the kernel without requiring a restart. Being a Unix, Mac OS X should be able to do the same thing.

@Yakov
First off, calm down.
Secondly, after a full year of running the Webkit nightlies (gold icon), I never once had to restart my computer for an update, so I was simply asking the collective commenters of TUAW for an answer in a tone humorously resembling authentic complaining.
You've answered my question. Thanks.

Before I install this, does it bring back the tabs on top?

Of course not.

Thank god they got rid of that feature, when I downloaded the beta I only lasted about a week and a half before I had to resort back to safari 3 mainly because of those darn tabs on the top. I don't know what they were thinking really.
Sometimes nice design just doesn't really mean nice function.

Well it's personal preference. I like to have the most screen space possible. The main reason I can't stand Windows is because it feels so dang claustrophobic with the taskbar at the bottom and all the browser stuff at top. Those 10 or so pixels really make a difference, to me anyway.
I just don't understand why Apple didn't give it's users a choice.

a bluetooth firmware update popped up as well -- This update provides bug fixes and better compatibility with the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard. It installs on all Macintosh systems with Bluetooth based on the Broadcom chipset.

Yep. It's there. Thanks

And thank goodness for that! My bluetooth connection has been driving me mad.
BRockNYLA said 4:51PM on 6-17-2009
And just as I finished typing that last comment...my bluetooth disconnects on its own yet again. Arrrrrghhh!!

Can somebody be my guinea pig for this one?

Is anyone having issues with Safari 4 and Flash in YouTube HD? It misses frames on my unibody MacBook Pro.

Does it fix the graphic glitches? Is it just as fast as the beta was? Heck, I'm downloading it anyway.

No problems installing either the Safari 4.0.1 update or Bluetooth Firmware Update on a new uMBP 2.66 15". There were two restarts related to the firmware update FYI.

For the person wondering about the restart, the Safari update patches the WebKit framework, which more than just Safari uses. Lots of other software use it, including iTunes, lots of 3rd party software. Updating the framework files can screw up the operation of the applications, as MacOS X doesn't support live updating of frameworks for running applications.
It's just safer to get the user to restart, to make sure all apps are using the updated framework. You can force-quit the Installer, and relaunch apps that are obviously using WebKit, but you can expect random problems to occur, that may or may not be readily linked to the update (that won't happen after you restart).

The constant restarts after software updates remind me of Windows NT. And that ain't good.
